Hi James:
Not in my experience, although it may be possible. The year, make, and model of your car might assist us.

I got under it and took a flat head with me and touch the two post it started so i bought another starter it still wont start i check all fuse none was blown the anti theft light is on how can i fix this or by pass it

  • Ted Maxwell Apr 09, 2015

Hi James: What we need to do is figure out why the power is not getting to the starter. When you touched the two posts you probably bypassed the solenoid, or, you activated the solenoid, depending on which posts you touched. So, you are either getting no power to activate the solenoid,(little wire), or no power going through the solenoid (big wires). Please describe what terminals you connected, and what make, year, and model the vehicle is.

SOURCE: 1997 ford exibition xlt my interior light and running board lights wont go off along wiith the door ajar light on dash board. please help

Take some WD40 and open the doors and spray a liberal amount into each of the door latches. Then open and close the doors firmly several times. This will work most of the time to unstick the ajar switches.

SOURCE: Door Ajar light wont go off.

replace the relay for the courtesy lights. the relay should be under the dash in the fuse panel on the drivers side. if you can't figure out which one. just put your finger on each one till you find the hottest one by touch.

SOURCE: The dome light does not turn off and the door ajar

the problem is door ajar switch located on one of the door latches just inside the door. what usually works is spraying wd40 or an electronic lubricant prayed liberally into the door latch and then opening and closing the door several times. the stuck switch is usually on the door that is the least used door like the passenger side rear. let us know how you make out.

Door ajar light stays on and dom light

This happened to my ford expedition many years ago. The problem was a relay that we had to change. The cost of this relay was about $20.00. After a couple of years this relay would blow out so fast that I finally gave up and just pulled it out. I don't have lights inside my truck anymore unless I manually turn them on.

I got a mercury.. and the problem is the driver door some time it locks good all the way while start driving will lock, just like any other car. and some times it wont lock u can still drive but it will...

Your door ajar switches are located inside the rear faces of each door along with the latches. Just liberally spray a petroleum based lubricant into the door latch areas of each door (one at a time) and open / close the door several times. Once lubricated, your door ajar light, interior lights, and autolocks should function properly.

Good luck.

98 ford taurus wgn se door ajar light wont go out

The switches that activates the door ajar are located on the body frame. For front doors try looking between the hinges, on the frame of the body cavity. Might have a rubber grommet around it. On the back doors, look on the frame of the body cavity near the hinges.

98 expedition running board lights and interior lights will not turn off, then car wont start.door ajar light is allways on.

you have a bad door switch on one of the doors or liftgate. Look for push switch button where doors close on door opening. Open onedoor at a time and push button by hand and see if the lights go out. When you find the one that turns the light off, either adjust it, shim it or stick a cabinet door bumper on the soor so it psuhes the switch shut.

My door ajar lights wont turn off.

I do not think it has anything to do with the door. I think you should put a scan tool on it and see what you pull for codes.
Please let me know.

Ford ranger 1998 the door ajar wont turn off and the dome light isnt turning on

Spray inside the center door latch with WD40 or silicone lubricant. You might have to remove or partically remove the plastic shield cover the opening. It's the part the door latches too, spray all around inside there and that should allow the switch to release. the switch either dries out or gets dirty and sticks, the spay will loosen and clean it.

Remove "Door Ajar" switch. Clean the switch and use a graphite type lubricant (I recommend "Dry-Slide") to lubricate the actuator on the switch. Reassemble the switch.

The switches are located inside the door panels, attached to the catch mechanism.

1) Remove interior door panel.

2) Using a T-27 Torx driver, remove the 3 bolts holding the catch in the door.
2a) The door ajar switch is the only part on the mechanism with the 2-wire harness.
2b) The switch is located at the rear catch for the sliding door.

3) Using a small flat screwdriver, gently lift the black tab on the catch mechanism and rotate the switch to remove it from the catch assembly.

4) Using a rag, clean the small round actuator and apply a small amount of graphite lubricant to the actuator and work the switch so it moves freely.

5) Reassemble the catch and the door.
