It sounds like you've done just about everything except to check if there is a bad or intermittent wire causing this or perhaps your low-pressure safety cutout switch is possible going bad causing the compressor to kick on and off?

Have the pressure checked. There is a switch that keeps the compressor off if the pressure is too low. This is the most common cause of no AC.
Of course you can also have a bad compressor(this usually makes lots of noise) Or a bad expansion valve.
Possibly the switch in the dash but that is pretty rare.

so, basically the compressor still WORKS, but it cuts off and on? they cut off and on alot anyways, but i would say, if it works, you shouldnt have anything to worry about, unless its doing it at ridiculous which case you'll want to take it to an AC repair shop, and have the system checked for leaks, and possibly have the system evacuated and flushed.....there might be a valve that is stuck, which would cause the compressor to act erratic, otherwise your drier or evaperator could be clogged.

Check for ac low pressure switch gone bad.If the expansion valve goes bad it will cause that problem,also, make sure there is enough freon in system.If you could get some one to put ac gauges on the vehicle you could tell a lot about the system,It would tell if the low side was too low(bad expansion valve)or if it was too high on the low side or high side (bas expansion valve or block dryer or condenser.

My airconditioner is blowing hot air. The mechanic said that the compressor is not broken. He needed to find the lower side pressure valve to kick the compressor on so it would stay on. Where is the valve?

If it is the 3.5 litre it has a triple switch located on the top of the dryer that switch is actually the high pressure switch the low pressure switch and medium when the pressure is medium or you jump it than fans will kick on high he is right about the thermistor for the evaporator he should just apply 12volts to the compressor to see if the coil on the compressor is bad all three are common problems not knowing where the switch is makes me wonder if he even checked the relay or how he knows the compressor isnt bad

You may be low on R134a and need a simple charge. As the Compressor cycles, the low side pressure drops and if it drops to far it will cut the compressor off till the pressure rises again. The high pressure side rises and the low side drops, but when it drops to far since there is not enough R134a in the system you get the on off cycle. The other cause to this is a bad pressure switch, or bad expansion valve, and moisture in the system as it ices up in the lines and pressure builds causing the pressure switch to cut the compressor off too. Re-cap, try recharging the a/c system for now since it's still working. Good luck and keep me posted. Be glad to help.

In order to charge, you must locate the low pressure valve to install the refrigerant. The low pressure valve is between the compressor and the evaporator. Do not charge on the High Pressure side, The high pressure valve is between the compressor and the condenser. To locate the low pressure valve, follow the line that comes from the compressor and routes toward the firewall. The valve will be somewhere on that line. Do not overcharge. The amount of pressure that is needed on the low pressure side will depend on the ambient outside temperature.
