Hi Anonymous, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
Can you start the car after it dies, or do you have to charge it?
Does it die all of a sudden, or does it try to stay running and chug and fluctuate?

Why not replace the alternator if it's old already..if yes replace then if problem still same then its the fuel lines..no fuel is going through it...check the code if there's any and if p0193 then replace the sensor is bad...usually does that when car died..

sounds like the belt is loose. if it has a tensioner check and or replace it, if not tighten the belt. or the alternator tests ok but is actually not working at low rpm. or the battery is shorted. electricity is tricky

When you say the fuse is good, do you mean the fusible link. 140 Amp? See diagram below. The link is the only thing that can prevent the battery from charging. Check the voltage at the battery with the engine running. It should be at least 14 volts if the alternator and circuit are good.

Usual culprit is boot (Trunk) light. If not, try disconnecting battery and if a spark jumps as you take the lead off it shows there is a power drain. If no power drain it points to a faulty battery.

99 grand am was driving home battery was about to die so i tried to make it home before it died

Can't say what the thud was..but it certainly sounds like your alternator is not charging your system.. When it isn't charging and the car is running off the battery the car will do some weird things as it loses its.battery power then just die....Auto zone should have found that and not just charge the battery..get yourself a small car charger at autozone $25 -40 or so and charge it again and have them make a full charging system check..good luck..

My alternater and battery test good on my 01 kia spectra. But, After putting the fully charged battery in my car, it slowlky died in on ly a few blocks drive?

Connect an ammeter in series with the battery positive terminal and battery positive lead. With ALL systems off, including alarm, door lights etc and with doors closed you should have a reading of only 0.03 amps.I'm guessing that yours is higher as it sounds like you have a parasitic voltage drain. If indeed it is higher, then disconnect any alarm system first and check your amps again. Every time you disconnect something, go back and check your amps.Once you get your amp drain back to normal, then you have managed to disconnect the system responsible for the high current drain.
The most likely candidates are always the alarm system, then stereo, then GPS tracker. After that you will have to start pulling more fuses, one by one and letting the vehicle rest for a few minutes after each thing is disconnected before taking a reading.
BTW, if it is the alarm which is drawing a high amp drain, then it is more often than not the alarm siren back up battery which has failed.
Good luck.

My Taurus has been sitting idle for awhile and I am unable to get it started. We tried either and it starts momentarily and then dies. Is there some way to get the gas through the fuel pump? I'm thinking...

try changeing filter first cost about ten bucks and take about ten minutes if its been along time the gas has probally gas bad, remove feul cap and smell if it smells like foul turpintine youll have to drain it,replace the pump and filter.you will have to drop the tank to replace the pump, you would be smart to clean out tank.

94 taurus dies while driving. replaced ignition module and fuel pump and fuel filter. speed has no effect, length of driving has no effect. vacuum at idle is good, sparkplugs good, plug wires good. dosen't...

Check the coil for a white ash look any where on the coil. This is an indication that there is a crack in the case and its firing thru it. this can cause that problem. one other is the pick up coil in the distributor. these will not show anything. theres no way to check because when they are cool, they will test fine, but when there hot they just die. when they cool down , they work again
