Usually that's a large leak in the Evaporative Emission System. That's the system that prevents the escape of fuel vapors from the fuel system.

You can get this from a loose gas cap, a non-oem gas cap that doesn't fit right, or from a major leak in the EE system somewhere.

So start off by removing and re-installing the gas cap and then drive for a day and see if the codes come back. If that doesn't work, see if you can swap the gas cap with one that you know is good and then try that for a day. If that doesn't work someone will need to go through the tubing of the EES looking for something damaged, loose, or pulled off.

Good luck.

Code P0455

Ford error code P0455
- Missing or loose fuel cap
- Incorrect fuel filler cap used
- Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close
- Foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap
- EVAP canister or fuel tank leaks
- EVAP system hose leaking

The P0455 it's a very common code, because the code is set if the gas cap is loose or missing. Start by tighten the gas cap and clearing the code. In most cases the code can be clear by disconnecting the car battery for about 30 minutes.

What does the code p1308 and p0455 mean on a 97 850 glt non-turbo model mean

P1308 : A/C Clutch Circuit Fault. You may wanna check the A/c clutch and see if it work properly.

P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak) . I think you need to check your fuel Canister and see if the hoses are not cracked or leaking.

I had this code one time P0455 and I check everything and everything was fine and I deleted the Code and never come back again. :-)
