The ASD relay powers up the ECM an fuel injectors , It is located in the under hood power dist. box ,

  • Jeff Armer Apr 08, 2015

Could be bad relay ! If there is a crank signal to the ECM the ECM energizes the ASD relay powering up the fuel injectors !

I wouldn't think so , these sensors are made to be in a harsh environment ! If fluid or oil soaked for a long time , it could affect the wiring , maybe ! Your problem is the code , crankshaft sensor and or cam sensor ! P1391 DODGE

Well I have read people saying their is a sensor under the power steering pump saying if this happens it throws this code of p1389 if soaked in power steering if I spray fuel into motor it runs

  • Jeff Armer Apr 08, 2015

They are all wet ! without the cam sensor the engine computer doesn't know when to fire the fuel injectors ! I'm here to tell ya P01389 is a crank cam sensor code . Most of the people on here just write thing's with out checking them out first , They really don't know ! I'm not saying I know everything because I don't but I do know how to research thing ! Doing this for thirty years an have worked at several car dealerships ! Don't take my word for it , google P01389 . An here is a link to learn about engine management systems ! I wouldn't believe half the thing's posted on here ! I have factory service info for ford , Lincoln , mercury an all General motors products ! Don't have Chrysler, dodge ,or Plymouth . But you can go to OBD2 codes an it will tell you what that code is ! Making Sense of Engine Sensors I know I could fix it !

SOURCE: power steering hose cme off causing atf leaking

If the hose clamps onto the rack & pinion, get a new clamp (replace the hose too,its probably worn)Reinstall it.fill the p/s resovoir, start the car (when the fluid gets low,add more fluid)It will make moaning noises.Just make sure the new hose isnt leaking.Turn the steering wheel back & forth a few times, top off the fluid, turn the wheel again, you should be ok.If the hose bolts on to the pump, you will need to change the hose with a wrench.(fluid replacement is the same way.

SOURCE: Transmission fluid, power steering fluid leak cause burnt smell?

The smell you are probably smelling is the fluids that are leaking hitting something hot like the exaust. Unless the leaks are so severe that it takes constant refilling then you should be ok. But be aware that when yu have leaking parts that you must regularly check those fluid levels. Them leaking wont cause major damage, but you not keeping the fluid levels up will. I had a tranny leask in my van for a 1 1/2 and thought it was a expensive fix, but I ended up fixing my leak for about 6 bucks. My point is, check your fluids once a day if not more depending on the severity of the leak.

Fixing power steering leaks in 2005 Toyota Highlander

The lines. you have 2.
high pressure and low pressure. combined, they cost around $400 at dealers but can be found cheaper online.
labor at a shop to replace both lines calls for 2.3 hours, so you will pay their cost per hour of labor.
plus shop fees and tax. (fees cover shop supplies like fluid, gloves, etc)
If the problem is the power steering pump itself, the average cost at shops for the part is $450 (part only) plus 1.6 hours of labor.

if the issue is the steering rack itself, you can find that part online for $350 on average.
If you just let the shop order the steering rack, they may hit you for $1,200-$1,400 just for the part, and labor times for that job is 4.2 hours.

Please note, the link I have attached may notbe the correct part for your toyota. You would have to search for the correct vehicle.
include engine size and other required info like "Toyota camry LE, 2.5L, front wheel drive"
Hope this helps.

2000 mitsubishi eclipse coolant leak and car smoking.? My coolant reservoir has been dry for several weeks now. Stupid on my part I know, but it's the third time it has gone dry in the past three

You did not say if it is a 4 cyl or a V6, but generally the power steering pump is belt driven, and the V6 water pump is driven by the timing belt.
The pump in question could be the power steering pump. Or it could be the 4 cyl water pump.
You might be able to take a photo of it and post it here to make sure, or check an auto parts store for a visual.
As for the coolant leak, is the pump smoking, or leaking ?
You can't really see the V6 water pump without removing some parts from the side of the engine.
Do you know where the power steering system is leaking ?
Does the engine run rough after you fill up the radiator ?

Check to see if Inertia switch tripped. It would be either in the trunk or behind the floor kick panels. It has a push button reset.

Relays can sometimes have bad contact points and kick out. The TPS sensor can have a bad connector.

Test your fuel pressure at the test port, test the fuel injector harness for signals.

At least you have a chance now to determine if it is a fuel or spark problem.

I was driving home last night and I heard this loud metal crash/scapping/thud. Soon after my battery light came on, it felt like my power steering went out, and car would not heat up, and eventually by car...

Sounds like you broke your drive belt. The drive belt controls the alternator, power steering pump, water pump and AC. When it breaks, you lose all. Hope fully you didn't do any damage to the motor by over heating. I'm guessing that by the sound that you have described, the belt tenioner pulley may have broken off. This keeps the belt tight. Good luck with it. Let me know if it was not that, as there may be more avenues to look at.

What would cause my 2005 colorado to idle really low and if i stop at a stop light or make a sharp turn it dies what could be the cause

Hello, if your check engine light is not on & the Colorado does not have a P0506 error code....
Check every connection on the air intake between the MAF sensor and the throttle body for vacuum leaks...Remove and clean the IAC (idle air control) & the MAF (mass air flow sensor)
Do not use brake cleaner on the MAF sensor, you can purchase MAF sensor cleaner at your local parts store....I hope this helps.

You have a leak fords are noritas for this although its a great disgin madza disgined this pump it works like a rotery engine and last for ever its likely the plastic resiveor had swolen and the seal is likely leaking. You could try putting fuild in with seal swell and also looking for a leak in one of the lines. Look for the oil if its not on the pulley or beat its the lines.6 Mounts ago i rebuilt my 85 that i've had for 23 years there was no WARE AT ALL in that pump but it has always leaked and it still dose a little not on the belt or pulley its just the way they are

Hi,
Keep fluid in it so you can drive normally, though it leaks... I don't know how fast it's leaking.
You'll need to determine the leak source:
1. Leaking hose connection
2. Punctured/damaged Hose
3. Punctured/damaged power steering pump
etc.
Once identified, you can proceed with a plan for repair.
I hope this helps... Good luck!
