Run the fault codes and find which o2 sensor is not set right
it may be a faulty EGR/ canister valve that is just starting to fail but not yet enough to affect performance
remember that the ECM is continually adjusting the tune up of the engine and one unit may now be out of the set parameters for the smog test.

No way to "cheat". Master emissions mechanic is the only solution.

1986 porsche 944 dont pass ca smog running too lean

Probably Nox too high. Can also be engine too hot. Last time cooling system serviced? Also can be carbon in the combustion chamber ignites fuel too soon. Fuel delivery system and all sensors may be a problem. Bad or corroded connections can contribute to bad behavior of the ECU.

My 1988fiero runs perfect, but failed smog test

Well you'll need to find out what is making it emit the high levels. Is the check engine light on? You may need to replace the catalytic converter. Also, verify that all the smog related items on the motor are connected and working.

Code 1416 bank 2 2000 gmc jimmy

P1416 - Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system Bank 2
1416 means that you are running lean while the smog pump is on.
It could also be likely the vacswitch on the smog pump is the causes.

Cant pass smog failed nox got 2032,allowed 695 95 bmw 318i

Since your car has no EGR valve, you have one of two problems. You either have a bad O2 sensor, making the car run lean, or you need a new Cat. Or, you've had a bad O2 for so long that it ruined your cat, and now you may have to replace them both. Either way, I'd highly recommend having a smog tech take care of this problem for you, since you have no access to a smog machine that will tell you if the repairs you've done have solved your problem.

02 kia fail smog high nox

if the engine computer says that you have a slow O2 sensor what it means is that the sensor does not react as quickly as it should and it needs to be replaced. nox is oxides of nitrogen, a product of too lean combustion which causes cylinder temps to go too high. it sounds like replacing O2 sensor will make it happy. engine computer is having a hard time controlling lean/ rich fuel mix because sensor is slow to register changes, needs to have response time in milliseconds or engine computer can't operate properly. O2 sensors do wear out, normal service item. hope that helps

1991 Camry running rich

check for vacuum leaks especially around the intake manifold gasket. Although the engine appears to be running rich, it could also be misfiring due to being too lean in one cylinder. When the cylinder doesn't fire the charge, it goes into the exhaust completely unburned and looks like a rich running condition due to the unburned fuel. If it is a vacuum leak causing the problem, the engine will run fine at road speeds but misfire at idle and not pass smog.
