Replaced starter, relay, and ignition lock still turns over when I hook cables up why?

Have you checked the ignition switch?
It's possible that the relay is getting power to the little terminal. Disconnect it and then try again to connect your battery. What you're trying to do is isolate the problem.

I would think bad starter. Remove it and have it tested to find out. It could also be the starter solenoid gone bad.

did you flood if so change iol and filter remove plugs put some oil in each cylinder then turn over about 12 times put new plugs in and should fire

How do I get key out of ignition or start car?


You have to watch that now ,even on a 2006 vehicle . With the electronics an the number of control modules , every system has an electronic control module - a computer . When they lose power strange thing's happen .Sometime the only thing that will get the vehicle up an running again is a trip to the dealer . Battery Disconnect or Replacement Problems There are only a couple of thing's you could check an only if you know how the stating system works .It depends on what model LH2 or LY7 . You have to look in the under hood fuse / relay box an see if there is a STARTER relay . The starter relay is energized by the ECU - engine computer, there by cranking the engine over . Circuit Description
Moving the ignition switch to the CRANK position sends a 12 V signal to the ECM Ignition Crank Sense. The ECM verifies that the transmission is in the PARK or NEUTRAL position. The ECM then grounds the control circuit of the STARTER relay. When the STARTER relay is energized it allows voltage to the starter solenoid S terminal.
The problem of not getting your key out of the ignition probably has to do with the
Electronic Park Lock (EPL)/Ignition Lock Cylinder Control Actuator: If the vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission and a floor mounted console gear shift, it has an ignition lock cylinder control actuator system in the steering column. The ignition lock cylinder control actuator purpose is to prevent the ignition key from being turned to the OFF position when the transmission is in any position other than PARK and the vehicle may still be moving. The column ignition lock system consists of an ignition lock cylinder control actuator, and a park position switch that is located in the automatic transmission shift lock control switch. The ignition lock cylinder control actuator contains a pin that is spring loaded to mechanically prevent the ignition key cylinder from being turned to the lock position when the vehicle transmission is not in the PARK position. If vehicle power is lost, and/or the transmission is not in the PARK position the operator will not be able to turn the ignition key to the lock position and will not be able to remove the ignition key from the column.

Linear Shift Assembly: If the vehicle is equipped with a column mounted gear shift, it has a linear shift assembly on the steering column. The linear shift assembly has a cable that runs from the linear shift assembly to the ignition lock cylinder case. The purpose of this cable is to prevent the ignition key from being turned to the OFF position when the transmission is in gear and the vehicle may still be moving. The linear shift assembly cable contains a pin that is spring loaded to mechanically prevent the ignition key cylinder from being turned to the lock position when the vehicle transmission is not in the PARK position. If vehicle power is lost, and/or the transmission is not in the PARK position the operator will not be able to turn the ignition key to the lock position and will not be able to remove the ignition key from the column.
Given the amount of electronics on your vehicle ,without hooking up a factory grade scan tool to see which modules are still communicating it would be impossible for me or anyone else to give you a diagnostic direction. I have had vehicles like this come to the shop after the owner tried thing's, an it cost them a lot more then it would have if they just had it towed to the shop .You have no idea about the complexity of you vehicle .

Engine will not start


Is the engine locked up ? Before i replaced all that i would have put jimper cables on the battery and jumped the starter with a screwdriver to see if it worked and the engine turns.

My 2007 tundra went dead. The ignition won't start


There are several possibilities ranging from a defective starter, to bad cable connections, to the onboard security system locking out the starter relay, or an aftermarket accessory interfering with the starter circuit, or a locked-up/damaged engine.

I have had vehicles towed into my shop for similar complaints when the only problem was that the customer was using a cheap duplicate key that they had made at the hardware store that did not have the required computer chip in it.

I have also had vehicles towed in where the customer had replaced the battery and did not have good cable connections or forgot to connect one of the wires that was supposed to to get hooked-up to the battery connector.

Then there are the questions: Are you getting any kind of "clicking" noises when turning the key or is it completely dead? If it is clicking, WHAT is clicking? Is it the starter motor itself that you hear or just the starter motor relay? Do you have battery power at the starter "S" terminal when turning the key? If not, is the transmission selector in "PARK"? Does the shift indicator on the dash indicate that the transmission range sensor is in "PARK"? (possible defective transmission range sensor) Are there any fault codes stored in ANY of the modules connected to your onboard computer network?

It is really hard to say without being able to see the truck.

IF STARTER RELAY BAD THE STARTER WONT MAKE NO NOISE AT ALL HEADLIGHTS WONT DIM.IF YOU CLICKING NOISE BATTERY VOLTAGE TOO LOW. MAKE SURE BATTERY VOLTS ARE 12.6 VOLTS AND USE TEST LIGHT TO SEE IF STARTER GETTING POWER.COULD HAVE BLOWED IGNITION FUSE OR FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. TO CHECK STARTER SOLENOID FIRST TURN OFF RADIO THEN REMOVE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE AND POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE.THEN REMOVE STARTER BUY A REMOTE SWITCH.YOU NEED BATTERY JUMPER CABLES HOOK BATTERY JUMPER CABLES TO BATTERY PUT POSITIVE CABLE ON POSITIVE BATTERY POST THEN PUT NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE ON NEGATIVE POST. HOOK BATTERY CABLES TO STARTER USE NEGATIVE CABLE GROUND STARTER BODY AND PUT POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE ON THE LARGE POSITIVE POST ON STARTER SOLENOID. NOW TAKE REMOTE SWITCH HOOK RED WIRE TO STARTER SOLENOID POSITIVE POST THEN HOOK BLACK WIRE TO REMOTE SWITCH TO STARTER SOLENOID SWITCH TERMINAL WITH LETTER S THEN PRESS REMOTE IF STARTER SPINS STRONG WITH A GOOD KICK STARTER GOOD.YOUR PROBLEM COULD BE CORRODED WORN BATTERY CABLES. If its a new starter check and see that the wires are hooked up right, could be time for a new starter, or starter relay on the fender well, or the ignition switch is bad.

CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR POWER TO GAUGES TO SEE IF THEY WORK WHILE IGNITION IS IN THE ON POSITION.IF NO CHECK THE 40 AMP IGNITION FUSE.IF FUSE GOOD IGNITION SWITCH IS BAD OR HAS A LOOSE OR BROKEN WIRE.IF FUSE GOOD ALL GAUGES IS WORKING.I BE LOOKING AT STARTER AND STARTER SOLENOID.REMOVE THEM HAVE AUTO ZONE TEST STARTER.OR YOU CAN GET A REMOTE STARTER SWITCH AND SET OF BATTERY CABLES.HOOK BATTERY CABLES TO A BATTERY.WITH STARTER OUT OF CAR TAKE BATTERY CABLES HOOK NEGATIVE BATTERY TO STARTER BODY FOR GOOD GROUND.TAKE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE HOOK TO STARTER POSITIVE TERMINAL WHERE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE GOES.THEN HOOK THE REMOTE SWITCH RED WIRE TO STARTER POSITIVE TERMINAL AND THE OTHER REMOTE SWITCH WIRE TO THE S OR SWITCH TERMINAL ON STARTER SOLENOID.PRESS THE REMOTE SWITCH IS STARTER RUNS GOOD WITH NO FUNNY NOISES ITS GOOD IF STARTER DONT RUN THE STARTER SOLENOID OR STARTER IS BAD. 95 prizm when you hook up the battery the starter turns over replaced starter replaced ing. switch when you hook up the battery the stareter turns over till you unhook the battery


ignition relay probably stuck...could be an oddball short between ignition relay signal wire and another hot wire, but highly unlikely...replace relay
