If. it started before why did you take it out not trying to be smart with you or anything like that ?
You really couldn't have wired it incorrectly you have the red cable that comes from the battery gives it power and the blade connector PPL that goes to the to the ignition switch .
Unless you are haveing a problem with the neutral switch standard transmission cluch pedel or automatic on the stering column. Why did you have to take the started off thats ware the problem is.

Yes, Check the instructions from the new starter or solinoid. OR since you DIY, you should invest in a repair manual (you will want it next time anyway). or try filepeep.com if they have it, or manualslib.com. Or possibly your local library.

SOURCE: Starter or solenoid issue on '98 Subaru Outback Legacy

The starter is separate from the soleniod; It could be a part called the bendix on the starter itself. If you can remove it, take it to a auto parts store- they will check it for free.

SOURCE: 1992 CHEVROLET ASTRO van no heat?

Since your blower is working and it is a heat issue, thats where we'll start,First thing is have you checked the coolant level in the radiator when engine is cold, make sure it is filled to top, next verify you have coolant in reserve ,Start your van and get it up to normal operation temperature,If your heat gauge on the dash works correctly it should be 190 degrees,Now lift the hood and locate the two heater hoses going into the heater assembly at the fire wall,Both hoses should be hot to hold on to,if both are hot and no heat inside your problem will be the blend air door in heater assembly.
if neither hose is that hot you need to replace the thermostat in the engine to get it up to 195 degrees.
if one hose is hot and one is luke warm then the heater core is blocked and to blame. hope this helps you.

SOURCE: 1998 Pontiac transport van wont start:

Well you hit all the major ones, could be crank position sensor, ignition module, a bad coil pack (it should have 3), you need to check that you have spark to each plug while the engine is turning over (!!!be careful as this will hurt if you get shocked!!!), this will rule out coil packs. if you have no spark to any plug your looking at a bad ingnition module (which is what the coil packs bolt to). Hope this gets you on the right track!

Took the old starter out of chevy astro 87 and replaced it with new, when i try to start it makes no sound

Check for power on the small purple wire at the starter with the key in the crank position. If here is no power you will need to trace that circuit to see if its the neutral safety switch, ignition switch, or wiring in between.

Hi,
a few problems that it might be.
1. I am guessing you checked for 12 volts at the starter motor end of the thick red cable that runs from the positive terminal of your battery?
2. The solenoid on your starter motor is "engaged" by applying a smaller current of 12 volts from a starter relay which is activated by your ignition key circuit.
3. Is there a good connection between your batteries negative terminal and the car chassis?
4. I guess you did not reverse connect the battery terminals as there would have been some bad consequences already.
For a good explanation of how the starter system works see here:

Feel free to ask me some more questions.

1992 Astro Conversion Van wont start when it is hot outside

try replacing the starter solenoid. it's an easy fix.
I had the same problem and could get it to run after tapping (kinda hard) on the solenoid case with a long pry bar, and since I replaced it it hasn't done that no start thing at all. make sure to disconnect your positive terminal of the battery before touching the starter solenoid wiring, or something spectacularly bad WILL result!
