the egr should be replaced or removed and cleaned with a good carburettor cleaner and checked for operation. the 34 refers to the knock sensor not having the right info to be sent to the ecu(in simple terms). you may have to replace the knock sensor but this is in the centre of the engine under the intake. takes a few hours. plan of attack: first have the vehicle scanned for p0 codes and with a scanner that reads "live data". what youre looking for is when youre accelerating the engine timing should be changing. if its not, change the knock sensor. then attack the egr which may be a little more difficult to fix. try the cleaning and check for operation. verfity all hoses are good and routing is correct. verify vacuum at the source. what causes an engine to start running great is it is dragging the affected cylinder and can longer be felt at those rpms. it wouldnt hurt to perform a compression check on this either. let know. cheers
