Clutch on 1994 Ford laser not working. Car has been sitting in garage for 12 months. What do I need to look for?

Does the car have a cable clutch or hydraulic? If cable, there will be a rather hefty cable leading from the firewall (engine side) to the bell housing. If hydraulic, there will be a second fluid reservoir next to the brake fluid reservoir, engine compartment.
Hydraulic clutch: check for fluid level. If low, check for fluid leaks at the servo cylinder, that is the cylinder that operates the release fork on the bell housing, check for fluid leaks from the main cylinder. If it leaks, it will leak inside the car where the clutch pedal rod connects to the main cylinder. Any leaks you find on the main or servo can be repaired with a kit from your spares dealer.
If cable clutch - Check your pedal. If it is low, the cable can be adjusted to take up the slack. On older vehicles, I have found that the firewall itself sometimes corrodes if the cable is anywhere near the battery, and then adjustment does not help. The firewall has to be reinforced first.
If the clutch pedal feels good, have someone work the pedal while you have a look underneath at the release lever (or in the engine compartment if front wheel drive). See if it works well.
As a last resort, the friction plate or pressure plate could be worn, and this will mean removing the gearbox if your car is rear wheel drive. On most front wheel drive cars the clutch / pressure plate can be replaced while the gearbox is in place, a 45 minute job.

The clutch pedal went to the floor

Either the master clutch cylinder or the clutch slave cylinder is gone.Check the level of the clutch fluid.Try filing it up with hydraulic fluid and pumping the pedal it to see where the leak is from.

Clutch pedal will depress but will noy spring back??

POSSIBLE CAUSES TO YOUR CLUTCH PEDAL PROBLEM. COULD BE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL LOW CAUSING YOU TO GET AIR IN THE HYDRALIC SYSTEM.IF FLUID WAS LOW CHECK FOR FLUID LEAKS AROUND LINES TO CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER AND CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER.IF FLUID LEVEL ALL GOOD. LOOK FOR A BROKE CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING OR FORK.CHECK FOR BROKEN DIAPHRAGM SPRING IN CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE.

When clutch pedal depressed clutch does not move away from fly wheel started 2 1/2 days ago. is cluth hydraulic or cable? thanks ray

in a car this 'new' prob. hydraulic. check clutch fluid reservoir- should be near brake fluid res.- will be smaller- if fluid is low, or empty- may be clutch master cylinder, or clutch 'slave' cylinder is leaking. check for leak under car, should smell like 'brake' fluid. if your brake master- both reservoirs are to the full line, and there's fluid under car, close to where clutch master is located, or near front of , or side, of tranny- then it's a clutch problem of some kind (as if you didn't already know this!!) relatively new vehicle (by my standards!), should have hydraulic clutch.
do you mean- when you depress the clutch pedal, it goes to the floor, and you can't shift into any gear??
should have asked this first! front wheel drive or rear? i'll guess front wheel drive. may have hyd. fluid leak in master or slave. (apologize for 'terms', but as 'male & female connectors', it's traditional, non-racist and non-sexist nomenclature!!) gotta' be careful, in the 21st century!! if there are, as i stated previously, 2 similar reservoirs, close to each other, then you prob. have hydraulic clutch. may need 'master' rebuilt, or replaced, or 'slave' replaced-it can be rebuilt, but prob not cost effective!
sorry to be 'long-winded/ texted', good luck!

My 1994 ford rangers clutch pedal just lost all pedal

There are two types of clutch actuators. (Mechanical & Hydtraulic)
A. For mechanical type,- Check the clutch cable as
this could be cut from wear and tear. This is easy
to replace. You can find this connected to the
pedal and the clutch lever near the transmission.
B.For hydraulic operated - Check the level of the
hydraulic oil at the cylinder of the hydraulic
actuator under the hood. This actuator is
directly connected to the pushrod driven by the
pedal. If the actuator is leaking, you have buy
a repair kit (Hyraulic clutch repair kit for Ford
Ranger 1994 MOdel.) These items must be
repaired to activate your pedal.

97 Jeep TJ sport - Clutch Pedal has gone limp

It's possible your clutch fork broke. Also, check to see if it's a hydraulic clutch. You could have a leak in the hydraulic system. Both would cause your clutch pedal to go to the floor.

1996 MX-6 V6 5 Speed: Clutch suddenly goes to the floor but....

It sounds like a fault with the clutch master cylinder or possibly the slave cylinder at the gearbox. With the age of the vehicle and the cost of the parts I'd recommend replacing both. This may not be something you want to tackle yourself, groveling around under the dash removing bolts for the master cylinder is not much fun, and clutch systems can be difficult to bleed up when they get air in them. I'd recommend taking it to a brake specialist (they do clutch work as well) and getting an estimate on costs before going ahead. Get a few estimates from a few garages to ensure that you are getting a good deal.

Hope this helps.
