It might be wet (rust holes in the cowl sheet metal) or the bulkhead connector on the firewall is getting wet inside where the connectors are..

Alternately damaged wiring harness, shorted coil packs.

HWRE CAN I FIND? FUEL EVAP TEST.


Here is a purge valve test from autozone.com. Is this what you needed, or what else?


COMPONENT TESTING
NOTE To relieve fuel tank pressure, the filler cap must be removed before disconnecting any fuel system component.
Canister Purge Solenoid

  1. Locations vary depending on model and year. Typical locations include the firewall (left or right side) and the rear of the engine near the firewall.
  2. With the ignition off, unplug the connector on the EVAP solenoid.
  3. Turn ignition on, measure the voltage at the ignition switch output line, voltage should be 10.0v or more. If the voltage reading is not 10.0 volts or more, repair the circuit from the ignition switch to EVAP solenoid.
  4. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  5. Disconnect the PCM harness from the PCM.
  6. Check the resistance of the EVAP solenoid control circuit between the PCM harness connector and the EVAP solenoid connector. Resistance should be less than 5.0 ohms; if not, repair the opening in the circuit.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.

Water leaks in floorboard where drain goes thru firewall and also runs out the drain how do i fix this


water or coolant mixture? water probably from bad winsheid seal, coolant= bad heater hose or heater core

Where have you looked? Headlight switch, hi-lo beam switch. I have had problems with the Bulkhead connector at the firewall ( big connector under master cylinder)

Next to no heat


might be a blend door not opening or closing,more than likely a clogged heater core,remove both hoses and run alot of water thru it

The plug that connects to the alternator has three


Yes the White wire is the reason. It goes to the Internal Regulator.
As you view the connector that plugs into your alternator, look at where the lock tab is.
Lock tab on TOP. The Black wire goes to the Left side. The White wire goes to the Right side.

The Black wire, ties into the Red wire down in the wire loom. (The Red wire goes to the starter solenoid, and this is connected straight to the battery. This is why the Red, AND the Black wire, are both Hot wires)

The White wire goes through the bulkhead wire loom, and to the bulkhead connector.

(Down under the steering shaft, and on the firewall, you'll see a rectangular Black box shape, with a Bunch of wires, coming into it from the engine compartment. The bulkhead connector is two pieces. Following it through the firewall, the other side of it is the fuse panel)

Where the White wire connects in the fuse panel,
it should go straight to the ACC fuse. (Accessory)

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee In'line 6 cyl.....Erratic guages... check guages light goes on, guages go off for 10 seconds, then back on. Speedometer jumps. Idiot lights sometimes come on for a few seconds...


This will be challenging to find ... If headlights dim or flicker too ... check battery terminals first. But I think it will be a large harness with quite a few wires on it ... Check ... for loose bulkhead connectors at the firewall ... and between the Engine and the body/firewall .... at the ECU .... you may also check for loose harness connectors at the fuse box. check for loose or corroded fuses ... especially if a cover is missing.
If I remember correctly this truck has 3 fuse panels in it. Check the manual

No power in fuse panel (5a access/hazard) or brake lights


If there is no power in a fuse panel for ANY of the fuses, suspect the wire harness bulkhead connector. The harness comes into the firewall from the engine compartment, as a Male connector. Under the dash the bulkhead connector is a Female socket.

There are individual socket holes for each one of the fuses, on the Female bulkhead connector. There are flat bladed pins for each fuse on the Male bulkhead connector.

Upon separating the Male bulkhead connector from the engine compartment, inspect the individual connections. You may see some that are burnt, or corroded. They may even be melted! (The machine screw heads are on the interior side. You have to remove them. There is a rope gasket made of a sticky substance, {Name escapes me at the moment}, that makes separating these connectors Fun! {?)

This could be the problem.
