Dude i don't know if you have ever worked in a shop or not but in every case u never have to replace the hole exhaust. i have worked in a muffler shop and bend the pipes from staight pipe and you only have to replace what is rotten !! its just a sales grab to get you to replace the hole thing

Yes, You could just replace the muffler, but I have a feeling the rest of it going to go more like in a year or two, I found it cheaper just to replace rather when going back and have the catalytic converter. You could alway do a wait and see

SOURCE: Terrible Front End noise

I would agree with the hub bearing solution. I also have a 2001 Cavalier and recently replaced both hub bearings. The sound is quite loud and does get worse the faster you drive. Once I got mine replaced, I couldn't believe how quiet my car ran. My dad works with a guy who does a lot of work on Cavalier's and has noticed that first the left hub bearing goes bad, soon followed by the right after about 60,000 miles.

SOURCE: 2006 Chevy Trailblazer loud thunk noise at start up

My first guess would be the front u-joint on the drive shaft. Try twisting the u-joint to see if there is any play, which there shouldn't be. If the u-joint is OK, have the transmission checked out at a reputable shop. There could be a problem with the torque converter, the valve body, or the bands. You didn't say whether this was a 4 wheel drive or not, but I doubt that the problem is with the transfer case. Let me know what you find.

sounds like a wheel bearing maybe faulty from your text it sounds like it could be the osf you could try jacking vehicle up with engine off handbrake applied and in neutral spin the wheel and see if it makes noise or wiggle it to see if it has any play possibly take off greade cap and see if any grease in bearing /

My van was running good on yesterday and when i went to crank it up this morning, it sounded like a truck really loud. The sound like it was coming from under the hood.

There are a number of really loud sounds that can come from under the hood. The most common noise that it could be is in the exhaust pipes. Although it sounds really bad it is not as likely to be as serious as some of the other causes because it is not a moving part and is outside the motor. It therefore is easier to get to and replace. The best way to determine the real cause is to lift the hood and have someone who knows what sounds are caused by what fault devices. I hope this helps.

Bought 2003 Tribute V6 recently. Is it normal to hear loud vaccuum noise coming from pedal area when foot not on brake? Also, is it normal for fuel gauge too rapidly fluctuate, went down a quarter after 38...

No, none of this is normal. The load vacuum noise may be a busted diaphragm in the brake booster. The fluctuating fuel gauge is either a bad sending unit in the fuel tank or a bad fuel gauge.

Started my mazda 6 this morning. Was a little sluggish but started. Went out 10 minutes later to move it and it wont start. Only clicking noise when trying to start

battery is dead. possibly the alternator isn't charging too. once the car is running if the battery light is on the alternator needs to be changed. if that's the case stick with a mazda part not a rebuilt.

I have the same problem, I replace the O2 sensors and nothing??????? I have no idea what to do to take care of the problem. I have just ordered a new and improved throttle body. according to the Mazda6 forum, the throttle body on the 03 model was junk. I'll keep you posted.

On a side note, I was transferred to Richmond, VA for Columbus, OH about an 8 hour drive. I have driven back and forth about 4 times with the check engine light on and have had no problems. my email is jburnitz1099@yahoo.com if you find a solution please let me know and I will do the same.
