Question about 2005 Lincoln Town Car
Dashboard is fine at start-up then goes blank after car has been started. this does not occur all of the time only sometimes.

an engine needs three things to start andrun; fuel, spark, and compression. The non-starting may or may not be related to the previous oil situation. The oil light came on because it lost oil pressure. If it lost oil pressure and it's a well worn engine to start with, it might not have enough compression at the rings to start. If it doesn't have enough to start, it'd barely run if you somehow did get it started. It may not start because of some totally unrelated problem like fuel or spark. The only way to find out is to have a technician troubleshoot it. Good luck.

I would bet the fuel sending unit in the fuel tank is the problem, not the gauge. Drop the tank. It's usually part of the electric fuel pump assembly.
