Hi Brendon Daly, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?

What is the vehicle? Where does the sound appear to be coming from? (under the hood, in the dash, near the wheels, front of car, back of car, doors windows, etc) does it happen when driving on the highway or in town or both? Do you hear it when the car is sitting at idle and not moving? Is the temperature gauge at or near normal operating temperature when the noise starts?

The car dont want to start

sounds like your security was tripped somehow..

1. turn the key to start the engine then immediatley release it to the on position. Keep it on the on position for 15 min. Watch the security light. The light should go out in 10-15 min. Turn the key off and wait 10 seconds.

repeat that same process 2 more times. After that your car should start. i had this same problem. Mine is a 03 but im assuming yours has the pass lock security on it also..

Car shuts off while driving

if car shuts off while driving it could be a bad crank sensor. a bad crank sensor will shut car off while driving, then it will not start for about 10 minutes, when it starts it runs fine until it goofs up again. the popping could be the sensor for it controls timing along with the cam sensor.

Having problems with turning over......

do you mean engine rolled over or cranked over and would not start?or is it that the starter would just click? or did starter sound like it was wineing and you had to keep on and off the key until it findley started? if any of your answers to thies questions is yes (except first question) its time for a new starter. as far as the grinding noise don't worry about it, that's what makes me believe its the starter. install new starter, problem solved.
