SOURCE: Timing Chain 2003 Subaru Outback LL Bean Edition

I would definently Replace the timeing chain before it breaks. because if it does break when its running it will cause catasrophic failure. such as bending valves and possibly breaking a piston. every so many miles your chain should be replaced as with the belts. it is a safty precaution. A little money spent now will save you a lot later.
hope this is what you were looking for.

SOURCE: change my timing belt valves got bent shop said was carbon

nO! dont get scammed they messed up and had the timing off and it fired your valves off at the wrong time and bent them dont take it to anyone else ...take it to the manufactures and let them know what happened and i would get in touch with the BBB.... see your timing belt turns your camshaft which turns your pistons up and down now if you timing is off your piston will go up at the wrong time and force all that combustion back at your valves which are made up of light metal and then they bend .....call the garage you went to and let them know that it was there fault and you want it fixed ......this really makes me mad being an mechanic myself. I hope this helps you a little.

Valve tapping sound ,changed oil and filter still making same sound now what? 2000 hyundai accent

Possible there is a need to set the gaps in the valve clearance and so you might need the assistance of the service center. If the regular service check was not done please include this work as a routine check up. If the noise is high specially in the morning please have it checked up as it can be due to problems with engine bearings.

The other day my oil light came on in my seat and wouldnt come off i changed the oil and it still didnt go off and now its makin a bangin noise and will not start i was told it might be the compression and...

it is a compression problem for sure
the banging noise show that you have a major internal engine damage could be piston , connecting rod (probably) or valves and valve train
never try to turn your car on again you will increase the losses
i hope my answer was useful sir
by the way check your engine cam timing belt if its not in place then you have a damaged valve and/or piston

BAD LIFTERS WILL MAKE A NOISE.IF VALVE LIFTERS AND LOWER SPRING SEALS BEEN REPLACED AND LIFTERS STILL NOISEY.EITHER ENGINE OIL TOO THICK OR ENGINE NEED OIL CHANGE + FILTER CHANGE.DIRTY OIL CAUSE LIFTER NOISE OR OIL PASSAGES IN THE CYLINDER HEAD STOPPED UP NOT ALLOWING LIFTERS TO GET THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF OIL.OR OIL PRESSURE TO LOW DUE TO FAULTY OIL PUMP.OIL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 29 PSI @2000 RPM. TRYING ADDING SOME SEAFOAM CLEANER IN CRANK CASE IF OIL PASSAGES STOPPED UP IT WILL CLEAN OUT OIL SLUDGE.GO TO AUTO PARTS STORE TELL THEM YOU NEED SEAFOAM.AFTER 500 MILES YOU NEED TO CHANGE OIL AND FILTER AGAIN. SEE IF THIS HELP BEFORE SPENDING ALOT OF MONEY .

Noisy startup when cold, sounds like valve

Hello onarock844...The Hyundai 2.4 litre and the 3.3 litre are known to have valve train noise. Some sooner than others.
The timing chain tensioners on the 06 and 07 Sonata 3.3 engines built before August 4, 2006 are well known for developing wear that allows them to make a tapping or rattling noise for a short time after a cold start. This noise can be mistaken for a lifter noise, although the actual source is in the front cover area of the engine. Hyundai has released a technical service bulletin on this problem, which describes installation of an updated design timing chain tensioner (part #24410-3C300) to correct this noise issue.
Ask your dealer to refer to Hyundai service bulletin #06-20-002 for information...If this has already been corrected,,,and the noise is coming from the upper engine area and not from the timing chain area, then the valve clearance will need to be adjusted. This is done by disassembling the valve train and installing slightly different size tappets to change clearance.
This is a fairly labor intensive process, so if you are still under factory warranty then you will want to go over the dealer's head and get the Hyundai zone rep involved to get it covered before your warranty coverage expires...
I recommend useing a full synthetic engine oil, i know in a few cases where the noise has stopped when the oil was changed over to synthenic, also a high quality filter is important, such as a purolator.
Good luck...i hope this helps...please rate me a fixya.

Transmission noises

Any time a transmission pump makes noise, it is starving for fluid or is worn completely out. Your next drive may very well be the one in which you will call the wrecker service. Always maintain your vehical. I would recommend that you change the fluid and filter and try a test drive to see if the pump has settled down. If not there is an oil treatment for transmissions by Lucas that is very effective in calming old, overused transmission pumps. Hope this helps, good luck!
