2000 Ford Contour SVT engine idles high (revs) when driving

It sounds like a faulty idle air control valve. The computer uses the valve to control idle speed by regulating the amount of air entering the throttle body. Its possible the motor inside the valve is weak, or the valve is gummed up. I would unplug the valve when base idle is near normal and drive it for a day or two. If the valve is the problem the idle speed should stay in one place. And it should set a trouble code for the valve being disconnected.

Truck will crank and run fine till it warms up...when im on the interstate running a steady speed it acts like its running out of fuel or lossing spark... if i let off the gas it will clear up then start...

Have you had the computer scanned? It sounds like a fuel injector problem. Injectors may be dirty. Or possibly a fault in the injector circuit. You didn't mention changing the fuel filter. I know some of the Dodges have the filter integrated with the pump. If yours has an independent filter it should be replaced.

Car set for 4 days and when I went to drive off it acted like it had bad gas... didn't want to go but it would go... put High test gas & gas Treatment .. was alittle better,,, had fuel filter...

If your vehicle doesn't call for high test fuel ,why use it?
Gas treatment was a waste of money. That does nothing.
Now you have a check light on,go to a repair shop, familiar with your vehicles systems, and have it properly repaired.
Sounds as though you don't understand, the cost of professional auto repairs, and don't care for the hard working people in the auto industry.

YOU HAVE A TORQUE CONVERTER LOCKUP ISSUE, HAVE SOMEONE LIKE THE DEALER,AUTO ZONE OR IF YOU ARE HANDY CHECK FOR CODES, NO CODES....THEN TAKE THE CAR OUT STEADY DRIVE AT AROUND 45 MPH, GENTLY HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS GO ON BUT NOT HARD ENOUGH TO STOP THE CAR...DO YOU FEEL THE CONVERTER SHIFT IN AND OUT EACHJ TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL IS TOUCHED MAINTAINING A STEADY 45 MPH SPEED, IF IT THAT SAME SHUDDER YOU ARE FEELING THE TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, NOT AN EASY JOB AS THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REMOVED TO GET AT IT.SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS.......

If you heard a hiss, that's probably what to look for. With your engine running, wiggles all your vacuum lines around, and try to find that hiss again. It will be a broken or cracked or loose vacuum line somewhere. A stethoscope, or a length of fuel hose held to your ear can sometimes help you find them.

Sounds like the EGR valve is giving you some trouble. If it is happening during steady cruises, That is where I would start. Do you have a check engine light on?
