HI....
The cause of the engine come Overheat.
The WATER PUMP. on your car Is driven with the TIMING belt.
My solution is :
Don't drive more Because if the TIMING belt when Broken.
The HEAD VALVES can be damaged. Be careful.
Get the car to a Autorepair SHOP. or if you can do yourselft.
REPLACE the water pump and the Timing belt.
And check all the pulleys after you remove the covers and timing belt.
Inspect the SEALS replace if need.

If you need assistence to do yourselft.

Renault espace 3.0 d.c.I overheating if the e.g.r valve has gone will it make it overheat.

The egr stuck open, would cause misfires
& all sorts of drivabiltiy issues & you would
stop & resolve that
Overheating would be an old clogged radiator,
thermostat or head gasket issue or fans that don't
come on or a water pump eaten away for some reason

I have a overheating problem with my 1993 acura legend and i just replaced the thermostat and the radiator. the fans work fine there is no leak and there is no head gasket problem but it keeps on taking...

How do you know that the head gasket is good? even with a bad thermostat it would not overheat in 3-5 min, a bad fan or relay would not make it overheat so fast , this sounds like a bad waterpump that has a bad impeller that does not circulate the coolant , but would not take coolant , if you are going through coolant and overheating that fast i would say head gasket but if you were not loosing coolant i would say to check the water pump impeller, i have seen them rust away or break,

White stuff under oil filler lid

Head gasket between engine block and valve header is leaking coolant into engine oil crank case. Expect a major costly repair because mechanic has to remove many parts to replace head gasket. If you have not overheat the engine, it may cost less. Because overheat engine will damage other components such as radiator, water pump, main seal, oil seal, timing belt.

IF YOU SEE WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE LEAKING COOLANT.RADIATOR AND ENGINE BLOCK NEEDS FLUSHING.A FAULTY EGR VALVE WILL MAKE CAR OVERHEAT.HAVE VECHICLE SCANNED FOR EGR VALVE FAULT CODE MAKE SURE EGR VALVE PIPE NOT STOPPED UP WITH CARBON AND EGR VALVE STILL CONNECTED.

94 Jetta w/2.0 engine overheats.I took it to a mechanic and he said my thermostat was fine.So what else could be causing it to overheat??And it does have a small oil leak too but I can't pin point it.

Overheating could be anything in the cooling system. Thermostat is out, could be radiator, water pump, broken belts which cause the water pump to not move, cylinder head warped, cracked, or the cylinder head gasket.

ROUGH IDLING AND OVERHEATING

IT SURE SOUNDS LIKE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET TO ME, BUT THAT WOULD DEPEND ON WHO DID THE VALVE JOB. WAS THIS A LICENSED MECHANIC? PERHAPS IF THE HEAD WAS REMOVED, AND THE OLD HEAD GASKET REUSED. THAT WOULD CAUSE IT TO OVERHEAT AND MISFIRE. I HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND FOR AN HONEST RATING.

Transmission oil in coolant?

Trans fluid can get into radiator by the trans cooler built into radiator side, automatics...
Engine oil can come thru cracked block, head gaskets

Which oil is it? Either way it needs to be fixed.

Typically with automatic trans they can overheat and cause engine temp issues, because they cool thru the radiator using an in tank cooler along side.
IF you overheat the trans you CAN overheat engine
IF you overheat the engine you CAN overheat the trans
