Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

My car won't go over 10 mph

Rpms don't rev past 1.5k when in drive but they do when it's in park. While driving it lightly lurches as if it's trying to shift but if it was tranny my rpms should still crank up. I was thinking either fuel feed issues or maybe clogged catalytic? I'm about broke so I need help knowing whether I can afford to fix it or not

No compression in your engine? Check your compression. Most likely a big problem. Cracked or warped head or need a head gasket, either way, expensive. All new cars have aluminum, now. Had it overheated? Did it smell hot?

Please Help!!! 1999 Mercury Sable doesn't seem to accelerate past first gear..engine revs up to very high rpms.

If the speedometer stops working the odometer stops also. Sounds like it is stuck in first gear. The RPM went up because the throttle was response to pedal but transmission not response. Check transmission fluid color. Whip off dipstick on a white paper towel look for gray if see any that is metal shavings and transmission is bad.

What does the MIL code "PO 320" mean, please?

code p0320 refers to cam shaft position (CKP) sensor/engine speed (RPM) sensor--circuit malfunction=== causes --wiring--CKP/RPM sensor ---ECM
because the engine runs ok until it is on cruise control I would be investigating the RPM sensor for a fault
The cruise control takes its control from the RPM sensor and if that circuit is interminable the the cruise control doesn't know what rpms to maintain.

I have a 2000 Mercury Mystique, 66500 miles. After about 30 minutes of driving, at 75 MPH on cruise control, the rpms rev up from 3k to 4k, and quickly drop back down and rev up again. The vehicle doe

It could be a throttle position sensor, if it consistently rev's after 30 min, explain that to the shop, bigger shops or dealers usually have more advanced diagnostic equipment, they could hook up your car and let it run for over 30min to see what is going on... unfortunately, it will not be a free service, but some places will apply the testing fee to the repair cost if you repair it at their shop

2000 pontiac grand am 3.4 motor auto trans 4 door.Car starts and drives okay motor seems to stumble slightly between 3000-4000 rpms. with car stopped in park try to rev motor will only go between 3200-4000...

Hi Tom your vehicle is equipped with a Rev limiter it will not allow you to rev the engine above 4000 with the trans in park; as for the first problem you may have one of two things, one of the spark plugs or spark plug wires is bad or you have a flat spot on the throttle positioning sensor in which case have be replaced. Good luck?

Engine revs up to 3000-4000 rpm all by itself

THERE IS A TEMPERATURE SENSOR ON MOTOR WHICH CAUSES THIS PROBLEM... USUALLY IT SHOWS A NEGATIVE TEMP READING WHICH CONFUSES THE COMPUTER CAUSING IT TO REV UP....HAVE THE ENGINE DIAGNOSED ON A SCANNER....GOOD LUCK...
