Question about 1991 GMC S-15 Jimmy

2 Answers

1991 GMC Jimmy has vibration at around 50 MPH.

Theres a vibartion coming from the front of the vehicle at around 50 MPH. Seems to go away when it shifts to the next gear. Also seems to get worse when I apply the gas at higher speeds. Recently replaced the passenger side front tire and had that balanced when it was replaced. Vibration seems to come and go as I speed up and slow down and shift gears at higher speed. Replaced all the plugs and distributor cap and rotor so its not missing.

A full rotation and balance couldn't hurt. Possible brake issue too...

99 jimmy vibrating when i drive it. u joint? how to tell which one

You will have to get under the vehicle, and grab the drive shaft at each u-joint. Grab the first one, and move it up, down, and side to side to look for any play. Also pay attention to missing pieces, and missing clips that hold the u-joint in.

Another thing to check is your wheel bearings. Jack the rear up, and grab each tire at 3o'Clock and 9o'clock first, and then 12o'clock and 6o'clock. Wiggle/shake it looking for play. Do the front tires the same way. You should find it.

Most common reasons for vibrations

Uneven tire wear (alignment)
Unbalanced tires
Universal joints
bearings
drivetrain

2005 gmc seirra vibration around 50 mph

It sounds like a bad U-joint to me. The only way to properly check u-joints is by removing the driveshaft. The joint should move freely, any binding will cause the vibration.

2000 GMC Sonoma Vibrates at 25 and 45 mph

Generally, the tire vibration only arrives at 60ish.
However, if you have a distorted tire, or worse, more than one, or even worse, Buckled Wheels!
You are inevitably going to experience vibrations, at varying speeds.
Take the wheels off, and make sure, the wheels are actually still,, er, circular.
It's best to put them on a Balancing Machine, then you can see how bad they are.
If the problem isn't solved soon, you may well be finding yourself, forking out for new wheel bearings.
That should do it.
Happy motoring.
