Water in oil pan

ENG WAS OVERHEATING - PRESS TEST & REBUILT HEAD, TORQUED TO SPECS.NO MORE O/HEATING. NOW HAS WATER IN OIL PAN. THERE IS NO OIL COOLER ON THIS ENG. ANY SUGGESTIONS.

    I FOUND THE PROBLEM = LEAKING FROST PLUG IN THE HEAD THERE ARE THREE OF THEM IN THE TOP OF THE HEAD INSIDE THE VALVE COVER VERY MINOR LEAK I REPLACED ALL OF THEM

You probably have an intake gasket, is it running real rough?
or its the head gasket leaking and if you have gotten the head pretty hot it may be cracked?

Testimonial: "head has been rebuilt, pressure tested and surfaced ground. Engine runs well now, no overheating just water in the oil pan. the only possible place for the water to get into the pan as far as I can tell is the oil port between the block and head. asince the head has been ground and new gasket I cannot see how this is possible other than a cracked block. I guess i will have to pressure test the block??"

Hi,it might of got water from the water jacket when takeing off the head for rebiuld,I once had a toyota crown and I done a rebiuld and had the same thing,I found out that in the front of the head was a core-plug which actuly was behind the timing gear wich just went strait into the bottom of the sump,well I hope yours is the first diagnoses,all the best.

Where can I find bolt torque specs


I suggest going to an auto parts store in your area and asking for the "HAYNES" manual for your make and model. It is an easier book to read than a "Chilton'. It will have all the torque specs you need. The book will probably cost 20 - 30 dollars. This is much less than it will cost if you torque something wrong. I would be careful trusting internet sources. It is a very worthwhile investment and a complete repair manual.

Hello, I have a 1987 Caterpillar D5H Dozer that after 1 hour of use the TC oil overheats. I had the TC rebuilt a few months back but the TC gauge still shows that it is overheating after 1 hour of use. I...


Check that the oil cooler fins are clean and not blocked for dust or dirt. Next check the oil flow through the cooler as it may be too high and not giving the oil a chance to exchange the heat to the air. You may have to insert a restriction in the return line to achieve this. Or conversely there may be a restriction from say a squashed oil line that is not allowing the oil to flow. Next suggestion is to talk with the caterpillar service technicians and find out why their machine is overheating. I am not sure but if you have a oil cooler inside the radiator maybe the water is running hotter than it should be. Check that the fan belts are tensioned correctly and are not slipping. To achieve this check that all the belts are the same tension and that one belt is not loose compared to the others.

1999 toyota rav 4 engine oil cooler bolt torque setting


INSTALL OIL COOLER
-clean the oil cooler contact surface on the oil cooled mounting
-install a new O-ring to the oil cooler.
-temporarily install the oil cooler with the nut
-apply a light coat of engine oi on the threads and under the head of the relief vale
-install the plate washer and union bolt. torque 78Nm (800kgfcm, 58 ft lbs.)
-tighten the nut,torque 8.8Nm (90kgfcm, 78 inch lbs.)
-connect the 2 water bypass hoses to the oil cooler.

it can be you must remove oil filterand housing along with oil cooler lines lower trans lines you really need a repair manual for this kind of repair for torque specs and procedures

Need torque specs for oil pan bolts


torque specs for these bolts can be found in a Haynes or Chilton manual availiable from your local parts store, or maybe at your local library, however these bolts are usually no more than 14 ft pounds, unlike cylinder head bolts, the bolts do not need to have any stretch factor to hold the oil pan gasket in place or sealed.
