Vacuum leak can cause many problems, such as fooling the airflow meter into thinking less air is being used such that ECU supplies too little injector pulse = engine runs lean = overheating.

Chugging noise

go to the wreckers that specialise in your make of car and get a second hand one. The intake manifold can be cracked (V8) by the incorrect tightening of the manifold bolts (tightening up all on one side first then tightening down the other side will crack the manifold.)

I have had 3-4 spark plugs crack on the inside insulator on cylinder 3 causing misfire issues. What is a possible solution?

Porcelain usually cracks due to excessive heat. Excessive heat in the cylinder of an internal combustion engine is usually caused by a lean mixture. A lean mixture is quite often the result of a vacuum leak. I would check for a vacuum leak on the #3 cylinder intake runner as well as the intake manifold gasket. You can use spray carb cleaner or propane.

How do i repair a cracked manifold on a ford ranger 2.0L with permatex

Intake or exhaust? Really makes no difference. Nothing will hold on the exhaust due to the heat. Intake, best to replace it. Sorry and good luck.
