Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a 1991 vette, the headlights go up and down like they should. But I have no power the the lights themselves. I have checked the fuses, the breakers and the relays. Could it be in the switch?

What could be the problem with my headlights.

sounds like a fuse or relay ,have you checked the fuse box drivers side lower dash for headlight fuse(s) also in engine bay there is another fuse box with relays ,list will be on the cover ,i'd start there as power is going to bulb on one circuit , other than that the switch may not be working fully

Headlights wont work

According to my wiring diagram, the headlight switch works a relay which is powered by two different fuses.
I would check the relay for voltage first.
You may need a repair manual to trace the circuits.

My headlights stopped working i checked the fuses they r good. the turn signals and brake lights still work also

Switch for he headlights may need to be checked out. This is a hard task unless you have a test meter. I would start by checking the headlight sockets for power, if you have power, then move up to check the power at the fuse box. You may have to remove the headlight switch if you desire to check the power connections. Your headlight switch will have to be on when you check this. Good Luck.

1986 Supra. Head lights pop up but does not turn on.

the headlight pop-up circuit is different from the lights themselves. Check the headlight fuses in the engine compartment fuse box. If the fuses are good then check the headlight relay. It is in the same fuse box just behind the headlight fuses. (The headlight relay is the second relay from the right side of the fuse box. the relay at the far right is the electronic fuel injection main relay.)

Headlights will not turn on S-10 2001

Assuming you've checked the bulbs themselves, check the fuse in the fusebox in the dash. If that's ok, check the large fuse in the black box under the hood. If it's still not working you may need a new headlight switch, or have a wiring issue. IIR those were prone to the headlight switch burning out. I seem to remember it being about $80, so go over the wiring, the bulbs and fuses first.

To check if it's the switch or not, try turning on the interior lights with it, and run the dimmer up and down, and then try just the parking lights. The switch should click nicely, and not feel warm/hot to the touch.
