I would suspect a problem with the throttle actuator. It is located under the hood and the air hose from the air filter box attaches to it. You can try removing the air inlet hose and cleaning the valve with carb cleaner. Resetting the codes may make the vehicle run well again but usually the problem will reoccur and the throttle assembly will have to be replaced

Parked it for around 5 hours. Restated and now check engine light is the only light on. Vehicle now runs great.great . Parked it over Monday. Drove it to shop today to get checked and am being told ecm has several stored brake codes all to do with abs system. Could this be the actual problem?

SOURCE: reduced engine power on

The traction control uses the speed sensor in the transmission and the wheel speed sensors to determine wheel spin. If a wheel spins braking is applied to it so that the power can be transferred to the other wheels. At some point the ECU detected a gross disagreement between the sensors and so as a precaution has entered into a limp home mode. On some systems if the fault is in error it can be cleared by putting the car into drive and moving forward a meter, putting in reverse and going a back a meter and doing this three times. If one or other of the sensors are faulty this process will not allow the error to be cleared. You need to check or have checked the error codes and the speed sensors.

SOURCE: the check engine light illuminates,

HI...
THis problem is caused for
Lost of correlation between ACELERATOR PEDAL POSITION
AND THROTTLE ACTUATOR MOTOR.
Because your car has no acelerator cable.
The morer probable is the Trhottle actuator motor come damaged. 90%. 10% the accelerator pedal position.
If you turn of the car it will work OK> for a few time.
But the Service engine soon. will stay on.
Yuo can go to at ANy ADVANCE AUTOPART, AUTOZONE or NAPA AUTOPART. They make a diagnostic free.
If not. I recomend get the car scanned for see exactly why the light come on. and make the right repair procedure.

OK>> I hope this help on your question...

Thank you for use fixya.

SOURCE: 2006 Chevy Impala reduced engine power

best bet is to stop in at a Pep Boys, Autozone, or similar big autoparts seller, and ask for free trouble code scan, which should pinpoint area causing problem. If not obvious by codes, what is necessary to repair the problem code, get back to us with those codes and we will be glad to assist you further. Better this way, takes away the guess work, and saves you money, as well as getting it right the first time.

2006 chevy impala traction control

Reduced power is a problem with electronic throttle contol . drive by wire . Do you know what this is ? Taking the vehicle an having it hooked up to diagnostic tool an checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes is always a first step when trying to find the root cause of any trouble light ! And not auto zone , pep boys , or advance auto parts . Thier diagnostic tool will not check codes in all system control modules .
