Question about 2001 Pontiac Aztek

My 2001 Aztek started stuttering over 35mph. Thought that it was the injectors, so I added injector cleaner.Then added gas treatment. So, what do I check for next, in order of importance??

If higher mileage.. I would check spark plugs and ignition wires. You could be experiencing a misffire. Does the check engine light come on or flash when this shutter happens? If so, a misfre may be present.

Best do a fuel pressure test. Should have chg. fuel filter from the get go. The only other filter is on the end of the fuel pump in tank. Bad gas and dirty gas will plug up fuel filter, hense burn pump up.

First Dan these car s are very sensitive, you don't ned to go to the dealer go to you local auto-zone and have dem check the light its free. I could be a number of things but just for starters if you have more than 60,000 miles, it could mean you need oxygen sensor but don't guess have it checked and get back to me I will be more than glad to help. well, the timing on your ram is computer controlled. is the truck in drive when this mis-fire occurs? or at idle? youve addressed part of your ignition w/the cap-rotor-plug wires. did you examine the old cap for carbon tracking? did you install the rotor properly? i know on my '97 ram the dist is feakin' buried in the engine it would be easy to rotate the rotor while installing/removing it so the timing mark is off. does your engine have the right plugs installed? your plug wires follow the correct firing order with your dist? you did not mention anything about your ignition coil. here is how to safely remove and check your ignition coil. disconnect battery-at the coil disconnect the lead wire (TOP) and primary (BOTTOM) from the coil. label your wires, or take a pic of your ign coil before you remove it so if you forget where the wires go, you have reference point. remove mounting screws and remove coil. clean coil to remove rust/dirt and wipe coil terminals off. inspect case for damage. with a multi-meter, check coil primary resistance by selecting ohm's and then place + and - leads on the pos/neg terminals on the coil, dodge used 2 brands of coils either a "diamond" or a "denso" primary resistance for the diamond mfr'd coil will be between 0.97-1.18 ohms. secondary resistance 11,300-15,300 ohms. Denso primary resistance 0.95-1.20 secondary resistance of 11,300-13,300 ohms. to measure secondary resistance place one of the leads to one the primary terminals and the other lead attatch to the large center terminal. compare your readings to the above values. if your readings are not within range of the above values, your problem is the ignition coil. other causes you may consider is faulty: speed sensor, throttle pos sensor/trans issues like bad pressure solenoid (actuates gear changes) a fault in your overdrive system. hope i have helped!

Ugh... sticky injectors are common for that era of Ford! Make sure your fuel filter is fairly new, and regularly use some fuel injector cleaner. Verify pressure at the fuel rail, and replace the pressure regulator and/or fuel pump as necessary. (The fuel injector cleaner may actually fix the problem, but you may need to replace the offending injector eventually.)

2005 Chrysler 300 C. Battery went completley dead. Jump it . It holds a charge. Now check engine light on. Runs rough multiple missfires. Replaced battery. Ran good for 10 miles. Check engine on again....


Fill up your gas tank and ad a bottle of Lucas gas treatment/lube to the tank, be sure it's the treatment in a little clear bottle and not injector cleaner. After you've added the gas and treatment drive the car, with the head, driving lights, radio, heater, etc. all turned off. It may take ten miles or more but the check engine should go off and car will run normal. NOTE: Never jump start your car or use it to jump someone else's without referring to your owners Manuel.

First of all there is a vacume leak, second how is the air filter?, tell the husband to change the MAF mass air flow sensor and I would also change the TEMP tempreature sensor.

before replacing injectors try adding fuel injector cleaner to gas tank.......
also check air filter, and if not done in awhile change sparkplugs

Car feels like it's bogging down during acceleration, also sort of stutters starting at 45 mph and progressively gets worse above that. I had the radiator, timing belt, and water pump replaced last week....


try replacing your fuel filter, With big temperature swings this time of year, condensation (water) forms in fuel tank, Prior to changing fuel filter run a bottle of STP gas treatment or a good injector cleaner through it.

run a good injector cleaner through it like STP gas treatment or Gumout injector cleaner. Might have to do more than one treatment - good practice add one bottle about every third or fourth tank fill.

dirty fuel fiter, yes. But also certain models require mid or premium grade gasoline. regular unleaded has more water in it than premium. Hense the pinging. When was the last time you have your fuel injectors cleaned. Try adding a gas treatment like STP gas treatment/fuel injector cleaner, that should help. If it continues then its the fuel filter or the fuel pump is also going out.

usually a p0300 is a random missfire code due to a fuel problem probaly bad gas , use some in tank fuel treatment such as techron or lucas injector cleaner, after adding fuel disconnect negative terminal to batt, to clear codes and see what happens
