Check ball in the fuel pump/sending unit is stuck. Letting gas drain out of the fuel lines. If it were mine II would live with it until the pump started going out. Instead of trying to start it, just turn the key on and off 3 or 4 times. This will save on the starter and pressure up the line. Sending units are $100 to $400, and about $300 to have put in.

What year ? This info is from Chevy service online manual for 2003 Suburban ! Don't know how much you know about modern automotive electronics an how the simple starting of a vehicle can be made so complex ! When you turn that key it goes through a code recognition interrogation between the anti-theft system an the BCM - body control module , if the BCM agrees it sends a message on the serial data bus , communication network for the modules on the vehicle !
The Body Control Module (BCM) performs multiple body control functions. The BCM can control devices directly connected to its outputs based on input information. The BCM evaluates this information and controls certain body control systems by commanding outputs on or off. The BCM control inputs can be:
?€¢
Sensors and switches that are directly connected to the BCM

?€¢
Class 2 serial data received from other control modules connected to the class 2 serial data link.

The BCM is also capable of controlling other vehicle systems that are not directly wired to the BCM. The BCM does this by sending specific messages on the class 2 serial data link. The control module capable of performing the required function will respond to the BCM message
Vehicles are not power by the ignition switch any more , they are a simple discrete input to the BCM .
On vehicles that have several control modules connected by serial data circuits, one module is the power mode master (PMM). On this vehicle the PMM is the Body Control Module (BCM). The BCM uses 3 signals from the ignition switch. These are the Ignition 0, Ignition 1, and Accessory.
To determine the correct power mode the BCM uses:
?€¢
The state of these signals

?€¢
The sequence of switch closures received by the BCM

?€¢
The status of the engine run flag

The chart indicates the power modes detected and transmitted by the BCM: So given the complexity of the vehicle with out a understanding of how it works an the proper professional grade diagnostic scan tool any answer you receive on here is pure conjecture ! The best thing I can tell you is check your battery connections , connections at the starter an at fuse box . Check an make sure all fuse's an relays are fully seated . The next thing to do would be check for pending codes or codes in history in all modules on the vehicle ! Check to see if the BCM see's correct power mode from ignition switch ! GM has had ignition switch problems ! You may what to take this to a professional !

I called myself programming the new keys for my pt cruiser, but,it didnt take. At first it would start and run for a few seconds, now it wont turn over.what did I do wrong and how can I fix this?

Takes the master key to get it started again. The security gives you 3 tries to get the vehicle started, after the third time, it kills the starter.
2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser Note: You must have two valid keys to add a new key to the system.
1. Insert the first valid key into the ignition switch. Turn the ignition switch to the
ON/RUN position for at least three seconds, but no longer than 15 seconds.
Then, Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position and remove the first key.
2. Insert the second valid key into the ignition switch. Turn the ignition switch to
the ON/RUN position within 15 seconds. After 10 seconds, a chime will sound.
In addition, the Vehicle Security Light will begin to flash. Turn the ignition switch
to the LOCK position and remove the second key.
3. Insert the new key into the ignition switch. Turn the ignition switch to the
ON/RUN position.within 60 seconds. After 10 seconds, a single chime will
sound. In addition, the Vehicle Security Light will stop flashing. To indicate that
programming is complete, the Vehicle Security Light will turn on again for
seconds and then turn off.
The new key is now programmed. The Remote Keyless Entry transmitter will
also be programmed during this procedure.
Repeat this procedure to program up to eight keys.

2004 chevy suburban wont shift into first gear starts in second

Hard reset will bring your device back to factory settings thus it will delete all your personal files so a back up copy is recommended.

You need also to charge your device not less than eighty percent.

Press and Hold power and volume buttons at the same time until your tablet turns ON and see the android logo. Once it turns ON release all the buttons then use the volume key to scroll then power key to select. Scroll then select wipe data/factory reset.Scroll then select yes--delete all user data. Select reboot system now and wait until it finished and restart.

Resetting the passlock

1. First, insert the ignition key and turn the ignition switch to the "On" position (Do not start the engine). Leave the switch on for 11 minutes. The security light may flash or be on steady during this 11 minute period. Make sure the light is no longer on or flashing before proceeding to #2 .
2. Turn the ignition switch off for 30 seconds.

6. Turn the ignition switch off for 30 seconds one final time.
7. Turn the ignition switch to the "On" position one final time and wait 30 seconds.
8. Attempt to start the engine. If the engine starts and runs normally, the relearn is complete. If the engine does not start, Go to this link for info

I have a 2004 Chevy Suburban 1500 with 103,000 miles. I am having problems when starting. When the key is turned, the engine will turn over but not start. Turn the key back to off and re-start and the...

Check for power out of the ignition switch. It sounds like the ignition switch is not engaging on the first try and its taking that second turn to get power from the switch to the ECU and so forth. I would replace the switch and possibly the tumbler if the key comes out while the vehicle is running.

I have and oldsmobile 2000 intrigue. i changed the computer and now it wont crank when the key is turned and also the security light is flashing constantly how do i reconcile the new computer to the car?

There is a simple procedure for this.
First of all (and VERY IMPORTANT) is to connect the vehicle to a battery charger. Leave the battery charger on during this entire process.
This procedure takes approximately 30 minutes . Make sure the battery is fully charged before proceeding.
  1. Turn the ignition switch off.
  2. Turn the ignition switch all the way from the off to the start position, then leave it in the on position.
NOTE: The engine will not crank.

  1. The SECURITY will come on and stay on for at least 10 minutes . When it goes out, proceed to step 4.
  2. Turn the ignition switch off for five seconds .
  3. Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 again for a second time.
  4. Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 again for a third time.
  5. Turn the ignition switch off.
  6. Turn the ignition switch all the way to the start position. The engine should now start.

Engine wont turnover until after second or third try

Could be a bad connection at the positive or negative terminals of the battery. I had this problem on my 1997 Cadillac Deville where it would click, or do nothing, and if I toggled the starter through the ignition switch, then it would start on the third or fourth or fifth try.

I thought it was the security system, but it turned out that wire brushing the connectors at the battery (after they were removed) solved the problem beautifully.

1997 suburban 5.7 wont start by turning key over but if i just bump key 2,3 or four times it starts. please advise.

HERE is a search for the ignition switch you need. this is a very common problem on all GMSs that carried this particular part from the factory.

The connections are lose and when you turn it the entire way, the contacts are missing each other....when you jiggle the key, and the contacts briefly meet, the current through them holds them together until the vehicle is cranked and viola!!! ignition

REplace that part and you will be fine!!!!

GOOD LUCK AND PLS RATE THIS POST!!!!!!
