Toyota Echo Central Locking Problems

I have some issues with the central locking system. 1. Sometimes while driving, the central locking unlocks by itself. This seems to happen when turning the car, driving over speed bumps, or just driving on a straight road for no reason at all. 2. Also sometimes when using the remote control to lock the car, the locks pop up by themselves immediately afterwards. 3. The rear door central locks don't work sometimes, they have to be manually locked before locking the rest of the car. What is causing these problems and how can it be fixed?

It sounds like you may be having multiple issues at the same time,

as to #3, after 15 years, the locks have likely worn out. the rest of it sounds like the relay circuit is the problem. see if you can find a diagram for it and start looking for loose wires/ relays.

SOURCE: Alarm and central door locking.

Replace the alarm control box, it is usually under the driver seat, or in the extreme left corner of the dash. If the box under the driver seat got wet for any reason, expect bizaare things to happen; in any case, replace the box.

Central unlocking itself. Works then immediately unlocks itself

It's hard to say what the problem could be with out looking at a wiring diagram to see what's in control of the system . AKA an electronic control module ! door ajar switches etc... knowing the make , model an year could help .

Sounds a lot like the factory passive alarm system is seriously on the fritz, sometimes this can actually be resolved by resetting the passive system by locking and unlocking the car from the passenger side with the key. Although this could be a more serious issue with the system needing a more specialized look

Toyota matrix remote not unlocking car - battery is new

Check to see if your central locking still works on all doors and that you can also operate the driver's door central lock motor.
This can sometimes be an issue with the door lock motors themselves and not necessarily the key.
