There are a number of things that could cause that ( for instance, very bad brakes that could fail the next time you step on them, very bad axle that could throw you right off the road, very bad A-frame bushings or ball joint, or a very bad wheel bearing) all of them dangerous!

Either your oil needs to be changed but most importantly The clearance in the connecting rod bearing have more clearance then tolerances allow. This could be due in part of low oil pressure. The gauge might show safe pressure but a manual gauge would give an accurate pressure. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: how do you dissconnect the CV joint from the rear

there is a way,on the diagram below remove the 16,15,14,13 and then remove 18 wiggle the cv out and replace(iy may be hard to remove due to the age of vehicle so a bit of force may be needed(small sledge hammer or puller.

SOURCE: location of the ECM on a 1986 Subaru GL

Hello,

The ECM for this vehicle is locate on the drivers side (American) firewall, about mid way down. It will have a couple big harnesses plugged into it.

Facing the engine of the car from the front looking toward the firewall 1 is on the left side closest to you and 3 is closest to the firewall firewall 2 is on the right side closest to you and 4 is closest to the firewall.Thank you for your questions.megabuck

1986 subaru gl wagon non turbo stays idiling at 2500


Hate to tell you this but sounds like the problem is a vacuum leak. This will make the engine rev. Check all the vacuum lines before making any adjustment. Have to dig out some of my old books to find factory settings for that carb. Good luck and I will try to find in case you need them to restore carb settings.

Power windows stopped working in my 86 subaru gl wagon


There has to be a fuse related to the power windows, check the owners manual. it may reside in a secondary panel in the engine compartment.
