Idle speed is 700 rpms in neutral and in drive it may be slightly lower like 650

HOW DO I SET THE IDLE ON A 1989 FORD CROWN VICTORIA??

Bill, you could possibly have a vacuum hose leak. With motor running, open your hood and listen carefully for a hissing sound. If you hear one, try to pinpoint where it's coming from.

I changed my spark plugs the other day on my 2010 vw jetta. Since then it idles at 800. Is this normal?

Hello,

Most of the newer cars are set at the factory. This means that the idle can't be adjusted. If you're car was idling higher then this, I would suggest checking the gap in the plugs. If your gap is good, then it might be the idler control sensor. The easiest thing to check is to google the correct idle speeds for your year, make, model and transmission type to see if it's correct. I have a Mercedes C230 (6 speed man) and it idles around 750rpm. Good luck

Correct code P0504?

What Colorado do you have ? 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive ? Sport ,sport LS 3.5L , Z71, Z71 LS. etc. what size engine ? an does it have electronic throttle control ? I have factory service info an it is not showing that code .
DTC P0506

Circuit Description

The throttle actuator control (TAC) motor is controlled by the powertrain control module (PCM). The DC motor located in the throttle body drives the throttle plate. In order to decrease idle speed, the PCM commands the throttle closed reducing air flow into the engine and the idle speed decreases. In order to increase idle speed, the PCM commands the throttle plate open allowing more air to pass the throttle plate. If the actual idle RPM does not match the desired idle RPM within a calibrated time, this DTC sets.

DTC Descriptor

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC P0506 Idle Speed Low
DTC P0507

Truck dies when idling

HI
first I would like to tell you, do this procedure only if the 5th digit of your VIN is C or K.

Description

The engine control module (ECM) learns the idle position of the throttle plate to ensure the correct idle. Anytime the throttle body is cleaned or replaced, the ECM must learn the new throttle position. The idle may be unstable or a DTC may set if the throttle position is not learned.

Conditions for Running the Throttle Learn Procedure

• DTCs P0101, P0102, P0103, P0107, P0108, P0111, P0112, P0113, P0506, and P0507 are not set.

• The engine speed is between 450-4,000 RPM.

• The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) is greater than 5 kPa.

• The mass air flow (MAF) is greater than 2 g/s.

• The ignition 1 voltage is greater than 10 volts.

Throttle Learn

Important: Do NOT perform this procedure if DTCs are set. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code

(DTC) List - Vehicle.

1. Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes.

2. With a scan tool, monitor desired and actual RPM.

3. The ECM will start to learn the new idle cells and Desired RPM should start to decrease.

4. Ignition OFF for 60 seconds.

5. Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes.

6. After the 3 minute run time the engine should be idling normal.

Important: During the drive cycle the check engine light may come on with idle speed DTCs. If idle speed codes are set, clear codes so the ECM can continue to learn.

* If the engine idle speed has not been learned the vehicle will need to be driven at

speeds above 70 km/h (44 mph) with several decelerations and extended idles.

7. After the drive cycle, the engine should be idling normally.

* If the engine idle speed has not been learned, turn OFF the ignition for 60 seconds

and repeat step 6.
8. Once the engine speed has returned to normal, clear DTCs.
Good Luck

Still Rough Idle After Battery Disconnect

The first thing to do is not set up the idle speed, but to set the Idle mixture screw to lean best idle setting. First, turn in the mixture screw until the engine dies or runs worse, then back out the screw (recommend turning ¼ to ½ turn at a time). The engine should pick up speed and begin to smooth out.

The battery has nothing to do with the idle speed

2003 tahoe how to do a idle speed relearn 5.3

All you do is disconnect the battery NEGATIVE cable for 5 minutes and then reconnect, over the next few miles your system will relearn idle. This will not correct any idle problems such as stalling or erratic idle, this would be caused by other problems many of which WILL NOT SET FAULT CODES.

The fuel pump was changed, now it idles high.

The idle speed is controlled by an Engine Control Module (ECM).
It needs to be put on a computor to be checked.
The idle air valve provides the control for constant idle speed. In order to set the correct air valve opening to achieve constant idle speed, the fuel injection control unit uses information from the air mass meter, A/C switch, throttle valve switch and the ignition control unit (RPM signal) to regulate the output current to idle air valve. This means, there is alot of things that can make the idle speed go up or down...Hope this was some help to you??

Hi, I need to set the timing on my 1988 3F engine on a Land Cruiser but when I move the distributor, either I ****** or advance my idle, so, or you please tell me how to set the idle after I set (moving...

moving the distributor will alter the idle because it makes the engine run easier or harder

Forget the idle and set the distributor at 10 degrees BTDC
now that the timing is correct then adjust the idle speed at the idle screw on the carby

Disconnected air cond. How to set idle speed lower, there is a device keeps throttle from returning to lower idle speed

This is something that requires a certain procedure that involves the tps being correctly set and the ICS motor adjusted at its full extent and adjusted until the TPS sensor is at a certain voltage value. If it is not set right it will idle too high. I have an 89 seville and I fixed mine. If you want more info and think you can do it , reply. Also, Is your information center working ?
