SOURCE: 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited 3.7 V6 Auto with 4wd- Factory alarm system malfunction

all alarms have disable function usually located down underneath the driver side, look for a small toggle switch or momentary switch, turn the key to the on position , click the switch once or twice to the small red l.e.d light stays on constant.

SOURCE: how do i reset the factory alarm

if you unplug the battery this can reset it.......

but if that does not work....then this is what you should do...

Make sure the drivers front(left front) door is closed and you have your car keys.
Insert your door key into the drivers door and turn it to the locked position two times.
Then turn the key to the unlock position twice.
The alarm should be disarmed, now.
there could be other way of doing it but this works on most cars....

**also you must know that but in some cars the tranny needs the battery as the tranny needs to learn how to shift right.......so in some cars like the 2002 expedition if you unplug the battery the tranny will forget how to shift right again...and so...you might experience slight changes in the way you car runs...it could take longer for it to shift.........BUT NOT TO WORRY.....
good luck man!!

SOURCE: are the 3.7 liter jeep liberty known for head

any vehicle can have any component fail at anytime. The only way to know is to have it inspected for the correct diagnosis if your experiencing problems. If you want a second opinion because you don't trust the first one then your only going to get that at a repair shop.

what does disconnect the larm mean.
hack it. (cut wires, etc)
make it dead for all eternity, including next owner
or just disable it for now, as the operators guide clearly states.

the alarms 1999 to now are highly integrated, and hacking dont work. (by design)

How to determane if my jeep has a after market alarm or a factory?

The factory alarm is tied into your ignition switch. Most newer vehicles have an anti start system incorporated into this in case it is broken into. The alarm will shut the system down and will not allow the vehicle to start. Look under the dash under the driver side and see if you can locate a small box. Should have a serial number barcode on it. If so it has a factory alarm.

2006 jeep liberty. In the middle of the night the jeep would make a honking noise with short honks. We never had the alarm set. What would cause this and how would you turn the alarm system off.

the alarm automatically arms 30 seconds after you lock the doors
i looked around online and found info for you

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
lt. green/orange '-'conn. 2, pin 9 @ the BCM.

The factory alarm disarm wire is
negative trigger thru a 473 ohm resistor.
MUST use relay. The BCM
(Body Control Module) is attached to
the left of the fusebox.
Connector 1 is a gray 26 pin plug,
and connector 2 is a gray 22 pin plug.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, add the specified resistor
and put it to a solid chassis ground.
This terminates the alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

Take this info to your local
stereo/car alarm guy and have them
do this for you.

The alarm is not works for the jeep liberty 2002

This is common in all MOPAR vehicles. You will need to go to the dealer to correct this unless you are ASE certified in MOPAR electronics. It is a hard problem to diagnose as there are several causes.
