Question about 2005 Hyundai Sonata GLS
Many things will turn that light on, you will need a code reader to get a system to tackle.

Testimonial: "Thanks Russel I need a little bit of a more specific answer. The manual says its a Exhaust Gas related value, and I have over the weekend got a electrician to plug in the system reader and it showed no error. Car still wont start. Then I got a mechanic out and since there is no compression they thought it was the cambelt but it is turning so its not necessarily that either. Next could be?"

While your fuel cap may still be an issue there are many other items that may be at fault. It's possible the fuel cap tightening is a coincidence and something else is causing the problem.
There are a few hundred possibilities that could turn on your MIL.
First thing that needs to be done is verify what the code is that turns on the light. If you are in the USA Autozone will give you a free scan to start you off. Then you can begin to home in on the problem.
Best of the festive season to you.

Did you use a aftermarket O2 sensor or a genuine Hyundai one? If it's an aftermarket one it may be bad or not as good as the OEM one. See here for more details and other potential causes: P0133
