SOURCE: emergency latch for gas cap 2000 VW Beetle, where is it?

From the manual:

  • Open the rear lid.
  • Open the cover on the backside of the luggage compartment. To open the cover, turn the two "quick-releases" and fold the cover down.
  • Reach through the opening by the fuel filler flap. Grab the cable with th plastic covering and pull down. The filler flap will open by itself.
Best of luck!

There is a recall out for crash sensors. Call your VW dealer to have this checked and replaced for free under the NTSB recall.

SOURCE: blue light stays on in my 2000 beetle sometimes flashes

Not certain, but you may be referring to the blue light that indicates when the water temperature in the cooling system is "cold". It's typically blue when the car first starts, then changes color when the water temperature rises. If the light remains blue the water temperature isn't heating up, and you may want to have the cooling system flushed and checked. Depending upon the cars mileage, it may be time to flush the cooling system anyway.

SOURCE: VW beetle manual to automatic conversion-- possible?

I disagree with honeymokey, but only partly. Most cars are built to accomodate either manual or automatic, and the appropriate version of the transmission gets bolted on at the factory. The fittings are all there for the other kind, though, and the car's computer can accomodate the change as well. That's the whole point of interchangeable parts. In fact, if you read VW fan forums like the TDI Club online, you'll find plenty of folks who've converted their transmissions, though they're usually going in the opposite direction (replacing automatic with manual).

Having said that, this isn't a cheap or simple job. It only makes sense if the old transmission is dead, and needs to be replaced. In other words, it's something you'd do if you were already facing a $4,000 repair bill for a new transmission. Why not spend the money on installing the kind of transmission you really want, if you're going to spend it anyway? If it's just a question of preference, even STRONG preference, you'd have to be a bit nutty to replace a perfectly good transmission. There are plenty of used Beetles around (and Golfs and Jettas, which are exactly the same car with different bodies), so just find one with the transmission you want.

SOURCE: something draining battery on 2000 VW Beetle Turbo

If you are sure you have a key off battery drain, what you need to do is connect an ammeter to the negative side of the battery(disconnect the negative battery cable and connect one side of the ammeter to the battery terminal and one side to the and one side to the battery cable) note the reading and start pulling fuses one at a time making sure to put them back in their proper slot when the reading an the ammeter goes down to normal the short will be on the circuit of the fuse you have pulled if any part of these instructions is too difficult have the problem checked by a dealer

Need the loging code for 2000 vw beetle 2,0.I lost my keys car but a need a code for get ones

You will have to go to the dealer to get new keys and remotes with the microchip and have it programmed and cut there. VW keys are as you know not like typical auto keys that have teeth and as such they have to be cut with special equipment. Your car will also have an immobilizer that requires a code from the microchip in the key or a key fob remote to disable the immobilizer and this is something that has to be done at the dealership as there are very few locksmiths that handle this. Rough cost estimate is $300 per key with remote and work done.

Cant get the catalyst from underneath the car

If your "cat" is blocked and you can drive with it then go to your local muffler shop and get it removed/reinstalled, if you need it to be replaced you need a go back to VW.

If you want to do it your self you need a pipe cutting tool( a hack saw works wonders) and a pipe fitting tool (like a welding torch).

***NOTE*** your car will fail an out of province/state inspection if you do not have a "cat" and that means new car or new "cat"
