Try this: the sensors need cleaned from oil and carbon contamination. You can try to use seafoam from wal mart or autozone. Pull the vacuum line off the brake booster and pour it in the line while the engine is running. Also pour some into fuel tank. Next, drive the vehicle on a 4 lane with the highest speed posted you can find. This should clean them, but sometimes you need to try twice. Only a probe in the exhaust will see if the seafoam worked. Find you a shop that will help you prepare for your test. These steps and seafoam has helped me and has also turned the check engine light off.

I have a1999 Honda crv I'm trying to smog. No check engine light on. It won't get monitors/ sensors ready to check levels of poluutants out tail pipe. Any advice on how to clean or get sensors ready

Before I got for an emissions test I do several things. Change the oil and oil filter. Change the air filter. Spray Throttle Body cleaner into the Throttle body where the throttle plate is. Put a high quality injector cleaner into the fuel and run most of it out then refill the gas tank to full. If it still does not pass, I generally change the oxygen sensor. The works for many cars. Last case scenario: run the car until it is good and hot. Put one bottle of rubbing alcohol in a whole tank of gas and try to pass again. If you do not like that idea, Auto Zone sells a can of stuff that costs $11 and is guaranteed to help you pass the emission test.

Trying to get my 1997 honda civic smogged. Replaced the knock sensor about 800 miles ago. No check engine light is on. When I try to smog it i have three things not ready - the catalyst, the evap, and...

As a rule it takes about 50 miles for the computer to finish it's readiness tests. Some take longer so I would drive it about 75 miles and then check.

My honda crv 1999 temperature gets whn i run

This could be caused by a bad or sticking thermostat. this would not allow for the engine collant to circulate through the engine to cool it down. you could even be low or out of engine coolant. have you checked your coolant level?

CRV Not Idling Correctly

Hook it up to a computer to see what codes pop up. This will tell you whats going going on. possibly its a speed sensor that is on the air intake area. Get a bottle of Lucas Injector cleaner, this helps clean out the injectors and the crud they collect.
