My Toyota dealership says I will need head light sevice, a drive belt & a cabin filter my next visit. I have a 2005 Matrix. I had a serpentine drive belt & air cabin filter replacement @ 37,000...

i think the dealer is creating work ,yes the plastic headlights do need a polish in sunny climes as they cloud over but a cabin filter ?? you having a laugh here or what you remove and blow them out with a air line as for the belt well if it isnt split then leave well alone although i always remove the idler pulleys and ramove the plastic seals and clean the bearings out with brake and clutch spray then i oil with engine oil and repack with new LM grease and never have a problem with any customers car ,But i was taught by fleet maintenance mechanics in my younger days on trucks these men were the ones who fought in the last war and repaired spitfires and churchill tanks and whatever else was around and they would never dream of changing parts like this unless they showed signs of wear.Dealer unit changers are all they employ not proper mechanics as far as iam concerned

How do i change the radiator hose?

BUY YOUR RADIATOR HOSES FIRST MAKE SURE NEW HOSES MATCH THE OLD HOSES. BUY NEW RADIATOR CLAMPS AND HAVE EXTRA GALLON OF ANTIFREEZE. MAKE SURE ENGINE IS COOL IF YOU GOING TO CHANGE TOP RADIATOR HOSE REMOVE RADIATOR CAP OR OVER FLOW JUG CAP IF YOUR RADIATOR DONT HAVE RADIATOR CAP FIND RADIATOR DRAIN PLUG.PLACE A CATCH PAN.OPEN RADIATOR DRAIN PLUG CATCH ANTIFREEZE. DRAIN HALF ANTIFEEZE IF YOU GOING TO REPLACE TOP HOSE AND DRAIN OUT ALL ANTIFREEZE IF YOU GOING TO CHANGE LOWER COOLANT HOSE TO WATER PUMP.WHEN DONE CLOSE DRAIN PLUG.PUT ANTIFREEZE IN A SAFE PLACE FROM PETS AND KIDS UNTIL JOB DONE. WHEN YOU REMOVE COOLANT REMOVE WATER HOSE CLAMPS THEN REMOVE RADIATOR HOSES PUT NEW RADIATOR HOSES AND CLAMPS ON HOSES TIGHTEN HOSE CLAMPS DONT OVER TIGHTEN. POUR ANTIFREEZE IN RADIATOR.CRANK ENGINE UP CHECK FOR LEAKS.CHECK COOLANT LEVEL WHEN THERMOSTAT OPENS ADD MORE COOLANT AS NEEDED.

Leaking radiator fluid where lower hose connects w/core

Hi:

If you have a leak near the lower radiator connection that just started, it is either a failed hose, or possibly a radiator core leak that is dripping down to that area.
If you havent changed your radiator hoses for awhile, and they feel soft, it isn't a bad idea to change them both. If you drain your radiator to change the hoses, this would be a good time to inspect the radiator, and perhaps you will find the source of the leak.

How do i change my radiator

This is a timely but easy job. Simply drain the radiator. Disconnect the two radiator hoses. If automatic, disconnect the transmision lines going into the radiator. then remove the two bolts holding the fan in place and the plug that controls the fan. Then remove the two bolts holding the radiator in place. Your radiator will then slide right out the top.

I need to retrieve the em. flasher switch from inside the dash

If you mean the switch on the steering column, you will want to ramove the plastic cover on the column itself, and may have to remove the plastic trim by the speedometer. If the vehicle has an adjustible steering wheel, you may want to try pulling it down and see if that gives you enough room to get at the switch. Do you know where it fell? or is it just somewhere down there. Because it could be a task finding it if you dont know where it started. And you may just want to replace it if it is broken.
