Question about 1999 Ford Expedition

I have a very annoying whinning sound while driving down the road,it only does it while accelerating. sounds like it's coming from the engine/under the car

Never comes up with a check engine, so I don't think it would be a vacume leak. it's really annoying and want to fix it soon.

Sounds like surpentine belt. go to autozone and buy some belt dressing and spray belt. but before you buy the soray first have serpentine belt checked for cracks and stretching. if cracked then buy new serpentine belt and replace old belt

Testimonial: "i just changed the belt just the other day. put a gates belt on it. belt looks fine"

check tensioner. go to autozone and have them give you an opinion. i would try that belt dressing spray first that may take care of youur noise.

PERHAPS IT IS THE ALTERNATOR BEARING WHINING. YOU CAN CHECK THAT WHILE IN PARK. RAISE THE HOOD. START THE CAR. TAKE A LONG SCREWDRIVER AND TOUCH IT TO THE BODY OF THE ALTENATOR AND CUP YOUR EAR TO THE FREE END AND LISTEN. IS THAT THE NOISE?

Sounds like air is shooting out when accelerating. Could this be an exhaust leak? Plugs, coils, hoses seem fine. Noise is coming from passenger side under engine sounds like.

yes could very well be an exhaust leak.but that should be kinda loud and annoying..also u could have a slight whistling sound coming from ur air intake hose coming from air cleaner box to ur intake or throttle body or ur air inlet goin to the motor. when the motor is accelerated it would produce a high pitch sound like a whistling .hope this can help

Driving a good distance car makes a whamming sound the more Itry to accelerate the speed decreases whinning louder only stops whinning when I pull over to let the car cool down

Have your wheel bearings checked, when a wheel bearing is going bad it hums louder as you accelerate, when you stop or slow down the sound stops. A bad bearing does that, it over heats due to it not having enough grease on the bearing and will hum as you drive and get louder as you accelerate.

My Kia k2700 is making whinning noise

Hi, need more information. What are you doing when it whines, i.e. does it whin at rest with the engine running, is it whining in certain gears only. Does the whine appear to be coming from the engine bay or elsewhere.Does sound like it is coming from one of the wheels. Does whine increase as you accelerate. please supply more detail.
Also, is it diesel or petrol? Please add more detail and resubmit

High pitched noise and Rattling in gear box.

sound like main shaft bearing assuming it is manual( if it comes on all the gears)

if it is automatic it must be your torque converter bearing

There is a whinning sound coming from under the hood, only when i accelerate, I cut the car off, let it sit for 2 sec it makes the whinning sound again, some kind of intake sound (sounds like a whishle)

this could be a vaccum leak, check all of the vaccum hoses, if this checks out ok, then i would check the power steering, and the power steering fluid, to make sure it is full. also check all of the belts on your engine, to make sure they are not loose.

Transmission has a whinning noise in park if you shift to drive noise stops, car seems to idle a little high in park,no check engine lights on,noise sounds like its coming from bellhousing area when under...

check fluid level when car running, sounds like a pump wine, is it slight or annoying? you could try lucas oil trans medic additive as well as a trans fluid change. Get opinion from a reputable trans shop, or just drive and ya never know.

There is a humming or whinning sound coming from my 1998 ford expedition while im driving. The sounds stops when i take my foot off of the accelerator.

if the sounds is comming from the rear sounds like crown and pinion is worn out , the crown and pinion in the rear diff will only hum or whine under load while in contact and when you let go the pedal there is no load equalling no noise. you can replace the crown and pinion but you do need some specialty tools like dial guages and spreaders and pinion depth guage

Whinning noise when drive.

Maybe you have a bad wheel bearing. You could jack up the wheels one by one and turn them to listen. Or you could put the rear wheels on jackstands and put the truck in drive so you could listen for noise in the differential or drive train. The bit about cornering makes it sound more like an individual wheel though.

You need to pin down where the noise is coming from. It sounds like a pump, but cant be sure.
