Oil sensor light and alarm keep going off unless accelerating. New oil and filter. Any idea's ?

Low oil pressure. Replace the oil pressure sensor, if still happens, you may need to replace your oil pump. A blown gasket will also cause a drop in pressure

Oil pressure gauge

oil pressure sensor, low pressure due to dying pump. or blown gasket causing the pressure to leak out. Check the easy ones first like the sensor. Good luck

Just had catalytic converter replaced. A week later the car developed a rattle while accelerating and the check engine light came on. Now the oil light is coming on while acceleratting

Sounds like the mechanic who changed the Cat Converter hit the wires to the oil sending unit or a metal shield on the engine that needed to be removed to replace the Cat was not put back properly and is so loose it is hitting the wire to the oil sensor... Get it checked out by a RELIABLE mechanic...

After driving my car 2006 chevy impala for about 20 miles the dashboard warning light oil pressure low stop engine and the oil warning light appears, but if step on break or slow down it goes out..wha

Verify that the engine has the proper amount of oil. The inertia from accelerating may be moving the oil in the oil pan away from the sensor and causing it to send a signal, then when you slow the oil levels out and the sensor go's off. I've had this happen alot with a taurus that I owned. The simple solution was to top off the oil to the correct level and the sensor did not come on again (until it ran low again, had a leaky oil plug on oil pan).

Oil light comes on when braking

Your oil pump is failing.... when your engine rpm drops (when stopping) the pump and engine rpm drop to idle..(light comes on). when you accelerate (rpm's increase) the pumps start working harder and the light goes off.... I am TRULY surprised the dealer(who did you see at the dealer???) did not know this,... THIS IS BASIC STUFF!! ... I mean 090 level mechanics...

Get the oil pump replaced immediately!!!!

Accelerates when foot off petal in park. battery light and change oil light come on as car locks up also the oil Gage drop to the red . changed the oil and got a new battery last week.

It could be your idle control sensor or the idle itself needs adjusted. It could also be a MAP sensor. You might have a few problems happening. You really need a code from the computer. Any questions, please contact me. Try the sensor first. You can test the old one with a voltage meter.

Oil light comes on engine is not low on oil 2.7 liter 2ooo intrepip no abnormal engine noise light dose not always come on full bright

You can change the sensor for about $12 as this is what I did then light still came on. I went to the dealer and they changed a harness that goes to the sensor $224. It has been not on. One guy said that the oil pick might need cleaned out with a grass trimmer line to clear sludge if you have not changed your oil promptly. The sensor makes the light come on at 2psi. The engine has 4psi at idle.

2001 intrepid first problem oil light flickers when gas is accelerated. drove on freeway accelerated gas to catch speed and had to come up once came up it cut off on me and would not start back up. just...

the flickering oil light is a common problem with the 2.7 engine. as long as the oil level is full and oil is changed regularly, and the light just flickers and doesnt stay on , shouldnt be a problem, or get the oil sending unit changed. the second problem car stallings sounds like either cam or crank position sensor. does the engine light come on. if so the code should tell you.
