Question about 1988 Ford F 150

1 Answer

1988 Ford F-150 4.9 6 cyl. put a new ac compressor in the evac and charge done by a pro shop. I didn't use it for a couple of weeks. I turn it on . In about 30 sec. it began to make loud pops

I looked under hood and saw that it was popping out freon and oil out of a small hole that was suppose to be there on the top rail assembly that mounts on the top of the compressor at the very end of the pipe. Aiming at the plastic radiator cover. These pops were not like a steady leak but a pop every 3 seconds or so and would stop when the compressor was turned off. What is that hole for and is it missing a cover plate or something that blocks that hole. I plan to put a screw in the hole with a washer seal to stop it. Is this a good idea??

A had a new compressor installed and the air worked for about a week and then it began blowing luke warm air

When the compressor was replaced you should have had anew dryer and expansion valve put in, Most places wont warraty the compressor with out them. Also the shop should have done a vacuum test on the system to make sure you didn't have leaks. This is what it sounds like is happening to yours. Sounds like someone didn't do thier job correctly. Call your mechanic

How do you change ac compressor on a 2000 nissan sentra

hook the high and low sides of the ac to a evac/recharge machine at a repair shop and evacuate the freon. apply a vacuum to the lines. measure how much oil comes out. disconnect the two aluminum lines from the ac pump, remove the serpentine belt, remove the (probably) 4 small long bolts. remove and install new part. reattach lines. do NOT overtighten lines. recharge ac refrigerant to specified ammount. if the pump is new you will have to measure how much oil comes out of it and put in that much oil in the new pump or it will burn up. if you dont have a evac/recharge machine they cost around 3000 dollars.

I have a 1998 ford escort. The system has been evaced and freon added, also the compressor replaced. The compressor will engage.

Your trying to get the AC to cool and it won't because the orfice tube may be stopped up. during the flushing procrdue did alot of **** come out( broken compresser parts if it flushed good and you put on the new recieved dryer that the warrentee of the compresser requires. and it doesnt coll at al the condenser is stopped up. You cant unstopp them just install a new one evacuate and recharge make sure the fan blows hard and your done

How to replace ac compressor for 2001 chrvy tahoe?

take the serp belt off, remove the 4 bolts on top. remove the bolt holding the lines. unplug the plug on the back of compressor. remove compressor. drain oil out into a measuring cup. use a snap ring pliers and remove the senor. with new compressor install the old sensor. drain the oil out of new comp. there should be a total of 7 oz pag 150 a/c oil. add to new oil until there is 7 ozs. put back into comp. install back into car in the same order. when done go to a shop and have them charge the system. tell them what you did so they don't add any more oil into it. change the dryer at the same time. don't oil it. no warranty if you don't change it. best of luck

Remove front rotors (assuming they are disc - can't imagine they are not) and have them resurfaced at any local shop. Apply anti squeal adhesive to the backside of the brackpads (and shims if they came with them).
