Why does my 1998 lincoln continental drain the battery, have flickering dash lights, fluctuating power steering assist, and disabled air shock pump continues to run even with switch in trunk off?

Battery drain caused by a short to ground (frame or body) somewhere. Most likely this short is intermittent, which makes the dash lights flicker, similarly the power steering assist. Most likely the trunk switch issue is the "short to ground" . Visually inspect carefully all wiring in near and by the switch, and Air Shock Pump. I like the new very bright Led flashlights for this kind of thing. You may also discover the short by observing the trunk electrical in the dark while the engine is running thus viabration causing the intermittent behavior. You may see flashes from the short (if you are lucky) Otherwise it will take a lot more inspection and checking. Good luck, hope it is the easier to find in the trunk.

ill pretend yes......
blown fuse. what else could cause so many things, to lose DC power.
>?
a fuse can be good, bad or intermittent , even corroded,
a tech would scratch head and pick the easiest fault to fix.
my guess, is
dashboard doesnt work means the guages , and idiot lamps are dead but the park lamps there (dimmable) do work.
so what fuse is that.? i say to self.....
I open the FSM. and look at the power cluster feed.
what do i see.?

i look in instruments page. (aka. cluster)
tells you how it works
then i jump wiring page 8w-40-2
i see what, Fuse 10. is it good? and fuse 17.
fuse 10 is key on,, and fuse 17, is hot full time.

thats it, if the cluster is dead, only fuses can kill it 100% dead
or it losts its main ground, which is unlikely but voltmeter proves
in 1min flat. (G201)

i picked right, the cluster dead, is the most simple
if Headlights are dead, its most simple (not in Canada with DRL)

bingo?

What would cause the head lights and instrument panel to flicker on a 2009 dodge journey

The headlight switch might be the reason the headlights are flickering. Pls try to turn off headlights and see if the instruments still show strange behavior.
If the problem persists, try pulling fuses (one at a time) to see if you can find the circuit which is causing the problem. There might be intermittent shorts / no connection in a circuit other than headlights.

Lights flicker dash

Check your battery connections and make sure the belt for the alternator is not loose or seriously worn out.
You may have a defective dash panel or connection behind the panel. But if the lights only flicker with the engine running I would be concerned there may be a problem with the alternator.
But the check the battery condition first, weak batteries can cause all kinds of strange issues.

Lighting problem on 2000 chevy vetura

I have over 300k miles on my 2000 Venture. When the lights start flickering at low RPM's, the alternator or battery might be going bad. I would have it tested (for free) at the local AutoZone or Napa. The alternator SHOULD last 80-150,000+ miles. Its a real pain to change out on the Venture vans.

Sometimes I wonder if the van just doesn't create enough juice to run all of the accessories since even when batery and alternator are new they flicker once in a while when a component turns on.

I get zapped year round by my cars, even in high humidity. It is not harmful, but be careful at gas stations!

Flickering lights on 2001 Chevy tracker

I had similar problems, with dash board lights and headlights flickering, and the problem was a dying alternator. After I changed it, everything got back in normal. Also, a bad alternator eventually will kill your car's battery, too. I hope this will help you.
