Bad fuel pump, fuel not shutting off when turned off and leaking into the engine.

Does it smell of gas under the hood after it sets?

If you have an electronic fuel pump then
turn on the key a few times when its warmed up without starting it to exercise the fuel pump. See if that makes any difference with starts. If so then replace fuel pump.

When a hot engine is hard to start, most of the causes are fuel related problems. Fuel cannot circulate well due to the way in which vapor blocks it.

My ford falcon has problem starting after 1st being run and warmed up

Could be several things . Check injectors if leaking can cause flooding and hard starting after warm up. check cold starting unit not still on after warm up . A faulty temp censer can make hard starting . Leaking injectors can be checked by fuel pressure holding steady with engine stopped .

1996 goe metro hard to start fuel problem

ever tune it up, every 60,000 miles, this decade?
yes?
cold fuel is hard to burn, and bad spark is cause.
tune it up.
spark parts never last the life of any engine.
nor work cold , and damp, when old.
oldest cause on earth.

Won't start when engine is cold,

Have someone check your fuel pressure regulator, hard cold start can sometimes be caused by that.

I have a 1987 ranger 2.3 EFI and sometimes it will not start when it's cold. after it warms up outside it starts. When it does start it runs great. It always starts when warm. some times it will

Timing belt being off one tooth will not cause this problem but rather loss of power and hard starting all the time,

in the cold it will not start, the engine will spin but wont fire is this correct?

There are many things that can cause this, a little testing will be needed, the first thing that comes to mind with the ford and cold weather is the coolant temp sensor, it give computer a false reading and can cause hard starting or even no start, a scan tool would be helpful to see what temp it is give computer.
The best way to narrow this down to to check for spark when it wont start, a weak coil in cold weather will cause this problem or bad coil wire to cap, but if you can see if it has spark and let me know,
another test is to check fuel pressure, to see if it is getting fuel, and the fuelpump relay,

Let me know if it has spark or fuel when is does not start, good day

Hard to start when engine is warm

check for leaking fuel injectors. Check that the engine coolant temp (ECT) sensor is connected, the 2 wires going to it are intact, and that it tests in the proper range. An ECT stuck in full cold mode will cause the engine computer to schedule too much fuel for warm starts.

1999 silverado is hard to start when engine is warm, and idles rough for a couple of seconds after starting

You may have a leaky fuel pressure regulator located on the LH side of the engine on the side of the fuel rail. The internal diaphram can leak fuel which then gets into the vacuum line attached to the regulator. From there the leaking fuel travels through the line and gets into the intake manifold causing the motor to be slightly flooded when you restart it. The regulator is round, about 1-1/2" diameter, and about that long and has a small 1/8" vacuum line attached to it. After the engine has been off for a few minutes if you remove the vacuum line from the regulator and find even a trace of fuel in the line then you've found your problem. Typical symptoms for a leaky regulator are: Starts fine cold and will restart fine warm if the engine has only been off for a minute or so. Restarts hard warm if the vehicle has sat for several minutes or up to an hour. May produce a bit of black smoke during the warm/hard start.

Hard to start in summer our in warm gargae, it takes 3 turns of ignition.

A warm engine takes more fuel pressure to start then a cold engine. A clogged fuel filter can cause this or a weak fuel pump can cause this. There are also strainers on the fuel pump in the tank that can become clogged. If the vehicle has been ran out of gas, I would suspect clogged strainers.
