Water in the oil usually indicates a blown head gasket.
It doesn't really matter how the water got in,The engine is seized,Best way out is to replace the engine

Hi there
Well 9 times out of 10 its the head gasket leaking in from the water jacket and running down into the bores, or you have a cracked head or piston liner.and when the water gets cold or frozen then you are in trouble as the pump would not be able to pump frozen water.

The head gasket could be blown. Is there a lot of water? Is there oil in your radiator?
There is a chance, it could be condensation. If it is just a small amount of milky looking oil on the oil cap.

99 alero 3.4 blew the head gasket, intake gasket and water pump. Changed all of it. Rough start and high idle now. What could cause the oil light to stay on with the engine knocking and shaking?

More bad news. Have the oil pressure checked. Did any coolant get in the oil? Did it run like that for some time? Knocking and shaking is bad news-check it out carefully.

I have a chirping noise that starts when I start the car. It used to die down as I would drive, now it's louder and does not go away as before.

The chirping noise is probably a worn belt
You should check all pulleys and belt tensioner for alignment and or looseness
The knocking noise could be an internal engine noise
Which is common for the little 2L engines and I'm just guessing that's what engine you have
Make sure to use a good quality oil filter to prevent oil drain back and also the proper weight of oil
Too thick of oil can also cause this until engine warms up
You should use 5w30 or 10w30
The owners manual may say and sometimes the oil cap will give the recommended weight of oil

Engine loud

If this is knocking is coming from within the engine, some possible causes could be using too low grade of fuel (regular vs plus or premium if your vehicle calls for higher grades), some timing issues, needing to replace your spark plugs (may have incorrect or worn out plugs), or plugs & wires if your vehicle has both (some do not), some internal combustion issues, or possibly even problems with rods/bearings. How's your oil pressure??? Are your gauges reading low? This can be a cause! Sometimes vehicles will "knock" if the oil level drops too low, or it may not knock until the oil in the engine has been depleted. (You could be facing serious engine problems if this happens!) If you keep your oil checked and at the accurate levels, and keep it and the filters changed regularly to ensure "clean" oil in your engine, this helps with lubrication of the engine parts, helping with lessening of the wear and tear on the engine, as well as extending the life of your engine. (It is also helpful to let your engine idle for a little while and warm up before driving (especially with rapid acceleration habits) to allow the parts to become lubricated, especially in cold weather). If you try upgrading to plus or premium fuel in your car, and it doesn't help, make sure your engine oil level is okay. If you're unsure, ask your mechanic to check things out for you. You may just need a good tune up. Regular service and maintenance is essential for your vehicle's engine and major components, and also to lengthen the life of your vehicle, especially the older your vehicle is and if it's considered a "high mileage" vehicle. I'm no mechanic but I grew up in a family of mechanics and do know a few things about vehicles. Hope this helps!

So i have a cadillac STS when i start it up its like it is accelerating on its own without stepping on the the gas but what i am concern is when i place the car in drive D it knocks really bad a loud sound...

Sounds like a vacuum leak. this will affect the idle causing it to idle high but with no power (at idle) so almost dies at idle in drive, (under resistance) The knocking is likely your exhaust pipe shaking and hitting under car, cos of the engine shake.
Look for a vacuum tube hanging loose from around the intake area. Maybe trim off stretched end and reattach. May be able to hear it with engine running.

The charcoal canister is most likely full of water as well. Detatch the lines to the cansiter, remove the canister, and shake... it should have no real heavyness to it and there should be no water, as it is filled with carbon pellets inside.. consistant_1.gifconsistant_2.gif

What causes a loud knocking sound in the engine? 2000 ford focus

without hearing the knocking noise its difficult to say as it could be a cam follower or a big end ,best advice is to check oil level then ask a mechanic to have a listen and see what he says

Engine knock hard over 2500 rpm

Does the oil light come on or the knock occur during the engine warm up after a cold start?
There could be a couple of problems causing the issue. You could have an oil pressure pump or pump pressure regulator sticking. I would have a mechanical oil pressure gauge installed and verify oil pressure at idle and 2500 rpms to make sure oil pressure is in normal ranges.
You could also have excessive piston rod bearing, crankshaft bearing or cam shaft bearing wear that will cause oil pressure to drop too low to prevent the rod knock your hearing at 2500 rpm.
You said a knock and not a ticking noise,so I don't believe a lifter is the issue at 2500 rpm.
Start with the oil pressure check and go from there.
Let me know.

Car died....driving on the freeway and heard loud clicking sound, pulled over turned car off....hasent started ever since... No smoke or smell from car..Battery still works.. when i go to turn on it just...

Sounds like your motor was starved of oil or had an internal malfunction. Possible rod and main bearing damage causing the motor to knock then lock-up. Check your oil level, if there is none or its low, this is the cause of the loud clicking/knocking. Have a mechanic check it out, you may need a new engine or major engine repair!!Hopefully this helps

Trying to figure out where the knocking is coming from, on engine

It all depends how loud the knock is. A tapping valve can be caused by low oil level, or dirty oil. Topping up or changing oil will solve the problem. A really loud valve tapping is abnormal. Cars sometimes make what you call a spark knock when accelerating hard. Extremely loud knock coming from deep within the engine is a bad sign, which means the engine has failed. Further examination would reveal metallic residue on the dipstick.
