Battery could be dead. (Like maybe an interior light was left on for a long time) Do any lights come on in the dashboard when you turn the ignition key to run or start? Any noises from the starter/solenoid? If not, first place to check is the battery. If you have a battery charger, put it across the battery and see if any lights come on when you turn the key. If you are a member of AAA, call them and they can come out with a new battery and test your battery to see if that is indeed the problem.

Check the fuses. Have a mechanic check the power relays and the ignition switch.

Check the battery like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.
If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.
Check that the battery cable plus post, goes to the starter, Minus post to a good ground, like the engine.
If wiring is ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection.
Problem is most likely the Solenoid or starting relay, whichever the car uses.
Hope this helps.

Need more info, Does the ignition key feel strange? have you checked the starter wire to see if it has been disconnected from starter. Also there should be a little wire coming off the starter,
if that isn't connected it won't say anything. sorry couldn't control myself.

When I had a similar problem, the culprit turned out to be a loose battery cable. Is the negative cable tightly secured to the battery post, with nothing between the metal clasp and the lead terminal?

Audi a3 no start

How do you know the battery is fine? Sure sounds like you have a weak battery- the symptoms are all the electrical bits work- except starting the car. All your electrical systems don't need much current, but your starter needs a lot. If your battery isn't fresh then your car won't start, but everything else will appear to work. You can test the battery by looking at voltage across the terminals when you try to start the car, if it's less than 12 volts your battery needs to be replaced. If your battery is more than 5 years old it should be replaced anyway. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

2006 Expedition ran great, parked over night, would not start, battery checked Okay

See if you can jump start the car from another battery which is sound. If you can then the battery you have is rubbish and must be replaced.

2002 Ford Taurus, V6 3.0 won't start. Attempted to start, but stop mid start. No clicking, just slience. What else?

Just to the left of the battery is the main fuse junction box and below that under the manifold is the starter with the solenoid on top with the positive cable going to the starter check for a loose connection, and the battery ground sould be right there nearby the starter grounded to the block check it also. You could have a bad cable although it may look okay under the insulator the copper cable may be damaged test with a volt meter while moving the pos and neg cables at both ends.

(ENGINE won't TURNOVER) Just a "click" then nothing...

How old is your battery? 1st thing to check is connections at battery and starter. Make sure there is no corrosion, clean connections with fine sandpaper, make sure connections are tight. If dirty or loose connections exist, you won't be able to start or jump your car. If connections check out ok, pull the battery out and bring it to a parts store for a free check of it's condition. If it's bad, again, you may not be able to even jump start it. If battery charge is good, and condition ok, check your starter. You can also get a free check if you remove it and bring it to a parts store for testing.

Car won't start

if nothing is happening at all then it is definately the battery because as long as the battery has power you will hear a click and the dash light would still come one so if there is absolutely nothing happening it is the battery if you take it to most auto parts store even wal-mart they will test it for free
