Question about 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
Well sir or mam,
this means the antilock brake system has detected a fault in the circuit coming from the passenger side front tire. A lot of times these codes on this specific vehicle indicate the passenger side front wheel bearing assembly is in need of replacement. Any time a fault is detected in the abs system, the ecm disengages the abs and traction control system from working I have included diagnostic procedures down below.
The wheel speed sensor is built into the wheel bearing. Put the vehicle on jack stands so the front of the vehicle is up in the air and the wheels are off the ground. Shake the tire from left to right, or from top to bottom. Have an assistant inspect with a flashlight for any movement in the tie rod end and lower ball joint. If those appear to be tight and you still feel movement when you shake the tire, look by the cv axle outer boot. (Do you see movement ?If yes then replace the wheel bearing.as it is faulty. The new wheel bearing will come with a new wheel speed sensor in it as well.)If the wheel is tight make sure your abs pigtail is plugged into the main wiring harness. (sometimes these get knocked loose when people do brake jobs or sometimes after a car wash.) Next step if all is still okay. Take vehicle for drive. do you hear a growling noise or humming noise at speeds anywhere from 30 mph to 55 mph? If no that's ok. If yes then come to a stop. Start driving vehicle at the speed of 12mph to 20mph and turn the vehicle to the left at that speed. Do you hear growling or humming? If yes you most definitely have a worn out wheel bearing. If you turn right at that speed and the noise gets quitter this means bad right front wheel bearing. If you do not hear growling or humming or have any play in the wheels than more than likely the pigtail (that is on the main wiring harness) has an open in the wires or the wire could have rubbed through near the air conditioning reciever /dryer. if that is the case the damaged wiring needs replacement. I hope you found this information helpful.

C1226 Right Front Excessive Wheel Speed Variation
C1233 Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Input Signal Missing
You could have a bad sensor on the left front wheel or bad wiring. Have it checked by a mechanic. Your anti-lock braking system is probably disabled under these conditions.

It is a sign that you either have a bad wheel bearing or 1 off your speed censors on 1 of the tires is bad, I just had this problem with my olds alero, but it was a wheel bearing that needed replaced.

You need a new wheel bearing, This also happened to my olds alero, make sure 2 jack up each tire 1 at a time and pull back and forth on them checking for play, once you have found the 1 that has play or wobbles that is the 1 that needs a new wheel bearing
