Try getting in from the other side and then opening the trouble door. This sometimes happens when the door wasn't closed properly, or the lock was activated with the handle pulled. It happens on both of my cars, one a Honda and the other an Oldsmobile.

If neither the inside or outside handles work, which is rare, you'll have to remove the door panel to access the latch and most likely will have to damage the door panel to get to the latch since the door won't open. If it opens from either inside or outside the problem handle is either broken or came disconnected. Remove the door panel to inspect and repair.

I have a 2002 Acura MDX and the latch is jammed or broken and the door will not click shut because the latch will not catch. Is there a way to fix it without replacing the mechanism?

Which door? Will the door close and not latch or will the door not quite close and bangs as you try to close it. Have a look inside the latch to see if the latch is in the locked position. If it is, pull on the door handel and use your finger to release the latch into the open position. If latch is in the open position, check the striker attached to the door jamb to make sure the screws have not come loose and allowing the striker to move causing the door to not properly close

Most mitsubushi door handels have a loop and hook type connection,
You most likley un hooked the lever.
You need to remove the door handel with the panel attached to the door and re-hook the lever.
good luck,Gary

Your problem is the door thinks that it is already locked and closed. You need have the sliding door unlocked, have someone pull the handle as if they were going to open the door and then use a tool to "Open" the latch that normally would hold the door closed.

Driver side door wont open.solution on opening the door

This is usually caused by a broke plastic retaining clip.the inside handel should have a insert covering a screw pop out the insert and remove the screw. If there is no rod atached to the handel (broke clip) locate the rod in the door (a metal coat hanger works good) pull on the rod towards the front of the door and it should open.Replace the clip or sometimes the handel itself breaks needing replaced.

Hope you get a handel on it!!
