Question about Mazda 6

1 Answer

Could the problem with my 2009 Mazda 6 be cracked engine block, head gasket, freeze plug? It is leaking antifreeze and it is in the engine oil when you check the dipstick.

Problem began when the engine was hot one day and smoke is given off from the engine when started although the temperature guage was normal, also some from tailpipe. When car is started from cool it runs smooth. It seems quite odd because at NO time did the engine run hot, even when it was smoking up the temperTURE WAS NORMAL. Sheer

can be a few problems --blown head gasket --cracked head-cracked block--popped freeze-out plug--hose line ruptured --water pump --when engine cools down use a flashlight and look on engine as to where the leak/damage is if its in the upper area of engine could be a fixable problem if its the engine block thats a replacement motor

Signs blown head gasket

Cracked head means replace your engine, head gasket if you do it yourself approx $150 , dealership cost $800. Remove the oil cap on the top of the engine block , put your finger in and see what color the oil is if it's dark it's not a cracked head , if it's white and or milky looking, you have water in your oil, cracked head !

1999 chevy cavalier oils like milk in coffee, antifreeze leaked bad last winter, summer only drove 4-6 miles a week checked every time I went to store, used 1/3-1/2 gallon antifreeze, now getting cold out...

you're getting water in to your oil that's why its milky. could be a bad head gasket ,cracked head, or a cracked block, usually one of the last 2. better get it to a mechanic, if its the block it would probably be cheaper to replace the engine, it takes less time and most places charge 75-100 dollars an hour

Clunking noise when I hit bumps fuel low it stalls oil in anti-freeze

You probably have a cracked cylinder head. Has the car overheated or been run really low on
oil?

Could also be a blown head gasket. But the clunking sound when you hit bumps makes me
think the one of the cylinder heads is cracked.

But oil in the antifreeze is a sign of:

1) Cracked cylinder head.
2) Cracked engine block
3) Blown head gasket.

I think its a cylinder head because its a lot easier to crack a cylinder head than an engine
block.

My car recently shut off when i was driving in town. it did not have much oil in it and it had an oil leak i pushed it off the road and put oil in it but the car didn't start. i noticed the antifreeze tank...

Could be several things from radiator ,hoses, water pump, FREEZE PLUGS ,cracked head or block. You need to find out where the coolant is coming from to determine it.
If the car was hot and you poured fluid in it the block, head or head gasket could crack. If it was cold and you just had watr in it the block could crack or freeze plugs could have came out.

I have a muddy oily substance appearing in the radiator over flow what could this be....it is also clogging the radiator causing it to overheat

You have oil leaking into the antifreeze and if this is happening you also have antifreeze leaking into engine oil could be head gasket or intake manifold gasket or cracked engine block Has the engine over heated resently at any rate antifreeze in the oil is vary bad and will distroy the engines oil ability to lubericate the engine parts

Have oil in the anti-freeze and anti-freeze in the oil. Oil cooler checks out. took the head off and gasket looks good. Blew air into oil-ports on head, there was pressure.

you have either a cracked head or a cracked block, there is no other way to explain this assuming the head gasket is good and the oil cooler doesn't leak.

Antifreeze leaking out of right side of engine but only when heater is turned on. doesnt leak otherwise, what could this be

Have a look for a heater control valve that may be leaking in area near firewall on passenger side, just follow your heater hoses.

Antifreeze leaking into oil

Ummmm this is bad, you have one of two problems, if you may have a worped head or if your car froze up recently you could have a cracked engine block. Go back to the mechanic that replaced your gasket as he may of not replaced the head gasket properly
Hope this help
