Question about 1994 Nissan Pathfinder

1 Answer

My vehicle will not start but when I turn the key the car beeps at me.

When I get into my car the door dings and my clock is on. My lights also work but when I turn my key the car doesn't even crank. However, it does make a beeping noise at me that is different from the noise that the car makes when the door is open. (plus the door is closed)

More than likely, as crazy as it may seem, if the Battery is more than 3-years old it's probably not holding a good enough charge for starting. Try a Jump from another vehicle cable go Black to Black and red to red. If it starts take the cables off and let it charge a while.Shut it off and try it again, if you still have problems get the battery and Charging system professionally checked. Good Luck.

Changed battery terminals and now dinging wont stop unless warning light fuse removed

It sounds like it thinks the key is still in it all the time. Try turning the key forward to the on position, but not running, so the dinging stops. disconnect the battery. Remove the key completely and reconnect the battery.

You have a lot going on there.possibly the lighting control module but only a guess without further diagnosis. Take it to a reputable garage that deals with electric concerns a lot..but they may tell you to bring to deal

I would say the switch is what you talking about
replacing,not the key cylinder

DO YOU TURN KEY HALFWAY WAIT FOR BELL TO FINISH DINGING AND THE TURN AL THE WAY ON A 99 CHEVY BLAZER

Forget the dinging & just use the vehicle as you
you would any vehicle

If you have a problem provide some detail, as that
question is strange in it's self

You have to have your seat belt on

All vehicles ding when the key is turned on
They are reminders to do certain things, wear
seat belt,remove key,turn off lights,etc.

My 95 Ford Windstar has just developed a rather distressing problem. In the morning, I get in my van and everything is fine. A few hours later, when I get in my van and start it, there is a warning bell...

one of the door ajar switches are sticking. needs to be put on the computer to find out which one. only other way is to go around and unplug the switches until your light shuts off.

2008 GMC Acadaia overheated, and dinging sound won't stop. Coolant was empty (small leak I didn't know about) so filled the tank. Car has been sitting for 2 hours, and the dinging is still happening. ...

Are there any check engine lights on the vehicle? Is it dinging with the key in and the vehicle started and all the doors closed? Once I have more information I can assist you further. If you have enough coolant in there and no damage was done from it overheating too much/ too long it should be fine to drive.
Thanks,
Lee

I have a 2003 GMC Envoy with 79k miles. I have

sounds like 1 of 2 problems. without the vehicle it is hard to say but first I would check the ignition switch and then look at the body control module. hope this helps,
The body control module controls keyless entry and most body functions including dash board operations.

My 1997 honda accord wont start.....

Hi Matt

Follow the( + ) positive lead from the battery, to the starter, check the connections, if all OK, get someone to turn the ignition key to start, and give the starter a tap, on the selenoid, with a small hammer or a metal socket extension.

Good Luck !

Let me know the outcome !

Also a FixYa rating would be nice !

I have a 1994 jeep grand cherokee. my only problem is that theres a continuous beep that will not go off...it starts out like the "ding ding ding" you hear when the key is in the ignition and the drivers...

Find out where the noise is coming from. From your description, it sounds like the key warning buzzer is being activated when it should not be. A quick fix for this is to disconnect the buzzer. (the switch that turns it on is in the steering column and a real pain to get to) After you disconnect it, Make sure everything you need is still working.. I don't think it's connected to anything else important.
