I just wrote you a long and involved message and I somehow lost it. At first I couldn't find him, but I found his Facebook Profile as he doesn't use the middle D in his profile. Nothing else exists to make me warn him off you.
I met my late wife on the Internet in 96 and we were married in 1998, she died in Feb 2014. I had just met another lady in fact here on Fixya of all places after I fixed her stove. I met her two weeks ago and she is lovely.
He certainly looks legit and very handsome. His account has been posting since 1994, and he has his full career history. I only have two reservations, 1. I can't see if he has friends, but that may be his privacy settings. I would expect him to have 300 plus. 2. he only has 7 pictures for all those years. Again, it may be a privacy setting.
If it were me, I would meet him, but in a public place and would not meet him in a hotel room for the night on the first night. I would even have a friend with you on the pretext of dropping you off, so someone else has seen him.
If he asks you for money for a plane ticket or something, I would run a mile no matter how plausible the story was, because he will be a scammer if he does.
Good luck to you and please let me know how you get on by clicking COMMENT under my post. You will be able to get to your question by logging in and clicking on your name.
So after reading all the subsequent posts, I see he is indeed a scammer and using all the scammer tricks, stringing along multiple females and all sorts of plausible stories to get money wired to him.
And don't worry about his threats of lawyers, you can all take a class action suit against him as a group on a no win, no fee basis. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100013370466964
