Question about 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier

Why would my dashboard light only be dim on the far left side? I thought maybe if could be the alternator but the indicator light is not lit up on the dashboard.

Also, yesterday my stereo would not turn on. But today it's back on.

Its a good possibility that you have a bad dashlight dimmer. But check all fuses good, and the wiring also. God-Bless! Check and see if the switch works for dimming of dash lights, if not its the switch thats bad.

Possible short in your radio circuit or courtesy lights circuit. Check fuses in interior panel. Also there are small bulbs inside dash one can fail whole others still work. Hope this helps

Fuse or wires could possibly be lose, you can simply check that on your own but if you are afraid you might "mess something up" because you are prone to doing so or for some other reason get someone else to or the garage.

Check under the dash for loose ground wires (one screw/bolt attached to the frame of the dash with a bunch of brown or black wires going to it) loosen that up, then re-tighten.

1992 Nissan D21 , left turn signal dose not work , changed bulb and relay , still dose nor work. What next?

Next is probably the turn signal switch. If you have a voltmeter, however, you could be more likely to find the problem, using it to test for voltage at places in the circuit. So I guess you might also need a wiring diagram along with the voltmeter...

If you have neither a voltmeter or a wiring diagram, use logic to think the right turn works so the fuse is good, and if the right turn works, power is going to the switch, and out correctly for the right side, but seems nothing for the left, ( DID YOU CHECK NOT EVEN A BULB DIMLY LIT ON THE LEFT SIDE, FRONT OR BACK? AND ALSO THE LEFT TURN DASH INDICATOR IS NOT LIT?) If nothing lights up for left side, the power is probably lost right in the 25 year old turn switch. That's where you would check for power out (on the proper wires) with a voltmeter- no power means switch is bad. But if the power comes out of the turn switch for left side, then you have to look further along in the wiring , probably not far from the switch connector if the dash indicator bulb is also not lit....It probably is your turn switch.

It starts, but why are all the service lights on the dashboard lit up?

Usually it indicates the alternator is not charging. Get yourself a volt meter that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Read the voltage before and after you tart the car. The voltage should go up from 12v to 13/14v. Keep an eye on it. If it slowly goes down, then the alternator needs to be checked.

1997 bmw 328i dash lights all lit up at once and after several minutes they faded, and eventually the headlights and dashboard lights dimmed.

Alternator. Have it tested with a voltmeter while on the car and running. Or take it off and have it tested. The current to run the car and the accessories is from the alternator when the engine is running. The battery light coming on alerts you that the alternator is not doing its job.

Dim Dashboard Lights

I think this indicates that you have an exterior light out. Check the tail lights, brake lights and the three bulbs that are mounted at the top of the rear window.

Driver's headlight is dim; wipers only work if headlight is off

Sounds like the jolt from the barrier has caused a bad ground to occur. Look for a bad ground wire around the left headlamp in or around the headlight bucket.
Tighten or replace the bad ground wire. A poor contact will cause the headlight to light dimly.

The battery light (left hand side) on my dashboard lit up less than 24 hours ago.  while I was driving home, all the lights started to come on and then dimming.  Then the car began to just "die" then...

Check belt(s) first then put voltmeter on battery and record voltage while running if you can, even if you have to jump it to get it going. take time to read owners manual & locate any fuses that may be associated with alternator circuits, most likely in power distribution box under hood, and check for one blown. Do you have a 12v test light by chance?
