Not bad, but it depends on your vehicle. For example, Advanced Auto Parts sells a crankshaft positioning sensor for a 1999 Ford Explorer for between $15 and $35 so it is cheap if you do it yourself.

Cost replace crankshaft position sensor

First you need to have the sensor component tested

You do not replace parts based on any codes

If your driving the car now, it isn't likely bad

If it needs replacing you can do that yourself, you don't
need to always pay a shop for the easy jobs, just the
diagnosing

Any cost related questions, you ask the shop that is taking your
money, not someone a world away on the internet

No spark crank sensor new 2.7

If you have no spark, and you replaced the Crankshaft Position sensor, you may have a faulty Camshaft Position sensor, failed Timing Chain or stretched Timing Chain, or a faulty ECM. Since the Camshaft Position sensor doesn't cost much, I would start with that after checking the Timing.
Also, be sure to check the condition of the Connector going to the Crankshaft Position sensor and Camshaft Position sensor.

If the crank shaft sensor is bad what coul be the problem

If the crankshaft sensor is bad then it needs replaced. I just replaced mine about 8 months ago. It cost around $20 and took me 15 minutes or so. Some vehicles will throw a bad crankshaft sensor code when it could be one or two other problems. Rule all those out before you buy any needless parts. Auto zone is a great place to go for having your codes read.

Hi there, Hope you can help... According to Mercedez service centre after their diagnostic, I need to have crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor replaced. Question: How difficult would it be for...

both sensors involve quite a bit of work to get to, the sensors are (in themselves) easy to replace!
CKP(crankshaft position sensor is around $55 at autozone where i live.
I cant seem to find the cam position sensor! call your local parts store. they could help with pricing
the CKP itself only requires 1 bolt and one wiring connector.
Good luck

Jaguar xj 40 sovereign 1994 error code 17

I'm not a Jag expert, but error code 17 is:
P0017 Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 1 Sensor B)
Additional infomation on and cause and possible solutions are here:
http://www.obd-codes.com/p0016
Basically, it looks like you have timing issue. Could be the cam or crank sensor or the timing belt.
The P0017 code would imply that you have at least two cam sensors (V6 or V8). The computer thinks that the B sensor cam is out of time with the other cam and the crankshaft. Depending on the cost and location, you might try changing the cam sensor first. The cost to check or replace the timing belt is probably going to be painful.

Jsut want to know where crankshaft position sensor

Hi!!

here are illustrations of the CKP (crankshaft position) sensor in 2.3L and 3.0L.

Note: In the bottom of the 2.3L drawing says Trottle Position (TP) Sensor, this is wrong, It should say CKP Sensor.

2.3L Engine

The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor is located to the left of the crankshaft pulley.

The cost of the sensor is $23 bucks at AutoZone.
