Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

My cruise control seldom works with the headlights on, it works fine during the day when they are off. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

If I have the cruise on, and I turn the headlights on, the cruise will disengage. If I have the headlights on first, sometimes it will work, but most often not. Weather conditions don't seem to make any difference. The cruise is its own lever, it's not on the lever with the lights or the windshield wipers.

My 2000 Toyota Corolla headlights will not turn on during the night, and stay on during the day

Your Corolla has daytime running lights (DRLs). A photocell determines whether it is day or night. Your DRLs turn on automatically in daytime without you operating the light control ("headlight") switch. Your DRLs are actually your headlights on low beam. At night, the photocell senses it is dark and disables the DRLs. When you set the light control ("headlight") switch to HEAD, the head relay closes and the headlights should turn on. Since they don't, I suggest opening the engine room junction block and checking the 40A MAIN fuse and the 10A LEFT HEAD (UPPER) and RIGHT HEAD (UPPER) fuses. In engine room relay block 5, check the 10A LH-LWR HEAD and RH-LWR HEAD fuses. Replace any blown fuses and the headlights should be working normally again

On my 98 Catera the brake lights work during the day but when the headlights come on my brake lights stay on ? Also when the headlights are on my cruise control will not work ??? Any help ????????

Your cruise will not work if the brake lights are on just like the cruise disengages when you hit the brakes. As far as the brake lights with the headlights, sounds like there is something crossed. If you hold your breaklights on with your headlights off is there a glow of the headlights or your running lights. If your rear bulbs are the round push in and turn type make sure they are installes correctly. You may have one where the contact on the bottom of the bulb is causing a jump of power from your running/parking light over to the brake light side.Well hope this helps and good luck.

Headlights on 97 grand am gtp turn off when night comes but work during the day why all the lights work fine

Crazy problem. There is a photo sensor that tells the computer when it's dark and to turn on the lights. Do they work at night when you turn on the light switch ?
I would think the photo sensor is defective and should be replaced or eliminated from the light circuit.

Broken headlights, horn, and cruise control.

I know it sounds daft, but have the bulbs you changed got the same contact formation as the ones you took out, if not it is possable they are now causing a short circuit.

Cruise control problem

The cruise control is terminated by the brake lamp circuit, Check the brake, tail lamp for water or a short. Your turn signals are on a different circuit. Check the bulb sockets closely for corrosion. Failing this check connectors for the tail lights for possible water penetration, or loose connections.

Hope this ia of some help
