This is a sign of a clutch problem. You either need to have it adjusted, there is an adjustment screw for the clutch cable, at the firewall. Or you have the cable slipping on the bracket near the transmission itself. Or you actually have some slipping going on in your clutch assembly.

A reputable mechanic, can isolate the problem for you, and if he's honest, if it's only an adjustment that's required, he will do that for you, instead of saying you need to rebuild your clutch.

Testimonial: "Hi thanx, im pretty sure its not the clutch as it goes in 5th, and if i put it in 1st before starting the car i can drive it and go threw the gears although its not the smoothest when changing but no slipping and bite is nice as always has been. Had brakes all around and callipers so brakes needed bleeding but ive done few thousand mile sice and the clutch has been good so im thinking its not master/slave cylinder thanx again for help"

My question is I have a Hyundai 2006 while im driving the car go to D and D1D2D3.when is in D1 it dnt wanna drive fast .I wanna know what cause dats my first car and I love the car .please help me

All transmissions start in a low gear that is not meant for speed. When it is in D1, the transmission stays in 1st gear and wont move to a higher gear by itself. When you select D2 it starts in 1 and moves to 2 and then wont move any higher.

2002 mini one wont go in gear whilst engine running, clutch seems perfect never slipped low bite, brutal force required to try engage and still wont go in

this indicates that the clutch plate is not properly disengaged with he foot on the pedal
If it is hydraulic I would be checking for air in the system of faulty master cylinder
More costly problems may be oil grease on the clutch linings causing it to stick or drag, spigot bearing in the rear of the crank shaft seizing up, rust or dry grease and dust on the splines of the input shaft preventing the clutch plate from moving
All or any of these require a box removal to fix
if clutch is cable operated then the cable may be failing and stretched resulting in the clutch not disengaging properly

My 2002 ford focus only goes into gear when car is off. Put it into gear and turn car on and it jumps out of gear. Then you can't get it back into gear again unless you turn car off. Car will

That usually is caused by worn out gears. Normally it will do that on only one gear. So try second gear to see if that's the problem. If 2nd works OK then first gear is worn out.
Hope this helps.

My Honda CRV, it takes a while to change to a higher gear, if you stop it wont even engage to the next gear as time goes on it drives ok, again this problem starts. Please Help Regards Onias

There is a very ,very good chance the transmission fluid is low.Get the car fully warmed up.Park it and with the engine running,go through all the gears and finish in neutral.Keep the engine running. Now check the transmission oil level with the dipstick that is for the trans. If it needs oil,it has to be added through the same dipstick tube.Hope this helps

Hard shifting in 2001 GMC Sierra dually.

First off check all ur motor and transmission mounts. If they are good check ur "U" joints for wear. If this fails it probably is ur transmission.

1st, 3rd and 5th Gears all pop out of place + Whining noise

hi my name is nathan .......now...... what it sounds like is #1 (I have to hold it in place til I get to second gear) that can be that your shift linkage is worn or out of adjustment, pilot bushing is Badly worn, shift fork, lever and or shaft is bent or worn,or your bell housing is misaligned or just loose...i have a few more ideas on why it is jumping out but those are the main ones now about your whining gear noise#2( The whining sound starts low pitched in each gear then gets higher pitched as the rev's increase) you may have worn gears maybe or it could be just that your transmission lubricant is incorrect or inadequate.
