  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise the vehicle and support it safely.

  1. Label and disconnect the starter cables from the starter. If equipped with starter mounted solenoid, detach the push-on connector from the solenoid.

To detach the hard-shell connector from the solenoid S terminal, grasp the plastic shell and pull off; do not pull on the wire. Pull straight off to prevent damage to the connector and S terminal.

My brother wrecked his 96 grand marquis ls and I was wondering if I could use his fob transmitter on my 96 grand marquis ls can this work?

You could try it, but I'm going to about 99.5% guaruntee it won't work, for programming reasons. HOWEVER, if you replace the computer/receiver unit out of your brother's Grand Marquis LS, it ought to work very well. Hope it works well!

Hello, There is a fuel cutoff switch in the drivers side of the trunk. It is referred to as the Inertia sensor. It will detect an impact and disconnect the power to the fuelpump.

If you look at the drivers side of the carpeted trunk there will be a slot in the carpet or a hole. All you need to do is push on the switch button and the system will reset. If you have air ride the Inertia switch is next to it.

Had same problem after replacing starter relay and ignition switch then starter itself a local (non dealer ) mechanic found corrosion under fuse block under hood that was causing intermittant starting. could be typical problem.
